Brilliant game! Enjoyed it a lot, though it was a little hectic at times lol

Really nice game! You could try making it turn-based (with one boat moving per turn). I also think it has the potential to become a really fun multiplayer game.

One of the most polished games of this jam. love it

A great little strategy game! It made me think of Age of Empires 1 and Civilization 3. I enjoyed it!

I like the idea and art!

Fun game! It's definitely far too easy to just be on the defensive side. Only the knight moving ship actually has the ability to really threaten zones safely. You can otherwise just wait for them to come into range of one of your ships and then move into them.

This was great ! Each ship has it's own countdown, and each type has different "waiting time", that's really a neat way to think about the theme. The execution is very well done, you can give multiple orders, each action a simple feedback but it's enough, and with an "Age of Empire"-esque sound.

This game is fun to play, and the level design makes it easy to understand and is progressive ! The execution is nice, congrats !!!

this gets intense in the later stages haha. And I’m not totally sure on the rules of engagement like sometimes I thought I was going to take over a ship but then it got me. I guess it’s a timing thing. I think it’s just my brain trying to tell me this is a turn based strategy game when it’s actually a real time strategy game haha. But the game is simple but challenging. I liked the way you took a simple concept and were able to make it interesting by adding more ships and capture points

This one gave me Civilization vibes, I can see the concept being developed even further into a full game! Maybe a bit more geared towards mobile though.

Enjoyed the concept and gameplay. Having the ships on a timer instead of making it turn-based is super engaging, was really fun on the levels with a lot of ships to try to think on the fly

It's like real-time Civilization on the ocean. I could really see this as an actual game in the future.

Nice concept and visuals!

Feedback:

  • It's a little too easy to just play defensively for many of the levels, since holding onto at least one temple is enough to stay in the game and waiting for your opponent to move their boats into range is a reliable way to win. There needs to be more pressure to incentivise the player to make moves and take risks.
  • Although it's described like a strategy game, it really is more of a puzzle game where the puzzle is figuring out the strategy for each level. In this way, it's not so engaging for multiple levels in a row to have the same "solution". I would suggest cutting some levels and keeping the pace up in terms of introducing new ideas and units at a solid pace. Attactics from UFO50 might be a good inspiration for how to pace things here.

I like how the combat is just ... chess, I don't have to stress doing turn based combat like other 4x games, quite nice 4x game mechanics, the pixel art also looks nice! you could add some obstacles that is not navigable to make the levels more interesting

The game is awesome! It does a great job of keeping the player engaged from start to finish. The gameplay is simple but fun, and everything feels very polished. The audio is also really nice and adds to the overall experience.

The only thing I think could be improved is the visuals - they're good, but with a bit more polish or variety, they could make the game even more appealing.

Overall, I really enjoyed playing it. Great job!

It's a fairly low stakes conquest game which I enjoyed tinkering with. Good job!

I really like the level design, how it starts easy but gets harder with each level.

Thanks! It was our intention for the game to introduce mechanics and build up to harder levels. So I really appreciate you letting us know that it worked out.

Thanks for playing!

Glad you enjoyed it!

The game is partially inspired by the chess variant called Kung Fu Chess. So if you liked this game you might like that also
