The concept of leveling down is a really nice one.
However, I don't really feel the "leveling down". It would have been nice to lose abilities, durability or dps to sell the concept.
i had to play this off the cover art and title alone, and the intro comic was amazing and funny!!! we made something similar im glad other people are doing intro comic cinematics too its the best simplest way imo to add a lil narrative. as for the rest of the game, a tutorial would have been nice, and with how good some of the sprites are (like the lil cats that im sad u have to kill :c) the other kinda poorly drawn (i suppose on purpose) sprites look kinda out of place, good job tho!!
Omg the comics were awesome... It's cool how leveling down encourages players to take different approaches to progress through the level, unique way to implement a difficulty curve ^^
Thanks for noticing the intent with the leveling down mechanic, sadly we didn't implement it fully as we originally planned. But thanks for enjoying the game ! :D
The comic is probably my favorite part. It invested me right from the get go! Awesome game!
The comic part actually almost had an entirely different story, but we had to reduce the scope of the narrative by a lot. And I think Im happy with what the end result is.
The comic in the beginning is so fun! I think the overall concept of the game is pretty interesting. At first, I relied on the fireball attack since I could use it from far away, but after losing it when I beat the boss, I found I had to switch to using the sword more since the arrows aren't very effective. I like the idea of letting the player use a powerful mechanic, then taking it away and forcing them to learn how to use the less powerful mechanics more effectively.
Woah thats alot of writing, thanks for enjoying our game, the arrow wasnt meant to be that awful to use, but I didn't have time to change the values with only a bit of time left for submission.
Very nice game! I enjoyed the style, but I think a tutorial would have been helpful. I didn’t know you used mouse for an attack and I would keep jumping to try and dodge enemies. I do like the comic at the start though!
Thanks for enjoying our game. Sadly the tutorial for the game had to be scrapped, as I spent majority of the time on bug fixing :D

Thanks for playing !! The original story of the game was scrapped, and I used my OC (that I was planning for a webcomic) instead !

This is a very solid game, at the beginning I was thinking how the game fit the theme until I played it further. It was a pretty cool concept, and cool opening! I love the doodle art style, too!
