454 deaths. I can still hear Grandpa's scream inside my brain........ neat art and adding elemets to bgm was great. The game was challenging but short and intuitive enough to keep playing!
Nice work on the adaptive soundtrack! Sadly, I couldn’t beat the last level. I found the physic rather frustrating, especially for the grappling-hook. So the tight platforming, mixed with timer, makes it really challenging. But this challenging issue aside, I like the concept! It kinda feels like a triathlon, and it’s cool like it encourages speed-running and searching for optimisations.
I got 72 deaths but if you squint hard enough it looks like 12... Awesome game and awesome art!
The game's controls are so tight and the whole narrative is pretty touching and full with symbolism. Although i felt the counter made the levels which are pretty hard already even harder, so maybe a smoother difficulty curve would've been nice. One note i have is that the man's jump sfx kinda sounded like he was about to throw up, which made me pretty uncomfortable and queasy ngl. Although i suppose that's the point? good game and well done!
Cool concept that could be polished into a puzzle x skill platfomer! Loved the art and the detail of the audio getting more intruments as you get younger! :D
I had a lot of fun with this game! The concept is very interesting too!
Though I have some problems with the grappling hook specifically. I don't know if I am just not very skilled (very possible haha) but I never managed to get the hang of it. I think that this boils down to two problems. Firstly, the grappling hook is activated both with the left click and space bar (meaning that the space bar is used both for jumping and grappling) and secondly you have no way of choosing which anchor point to use with the grappling hook. I don't understand how the game chooses which anchor point to use as it doesn't seem to pick the closest one. The grappling physics seem a bit off too, but I can't quite place what is wrong.
Also, I found that 'K' to age is a bit of an odd key to use, it's difficult to reach when platforming or mid-jump.
Still I really loved this game and especially the art / audio!
Thank you for playing our game!
The grappling hook definitely takes time to get used to since your momentum and speed is based on where you attach and your movement input during the swing. There are a few bugs with the targeting of the grappling hook that we were not able to fix before submission, sorry about that!
Regarding the controls, they were designed to have one hand on WASD, shift, and space, with the other hand being on J and K or Left Click and Right Click. I would love to hear your suggestion on how to improve the control layout since we had trouble deciding on it.
I am glad you enjoyed our game, thanks a lot for the good feedback!
Ah okay, I think that I didn't see that you could use right click to age too. Otherwise it's a great game, I am impressed that you managed to do all of that in 4 days!
Great art and concept, and levels were little too difficult for me. Also I would have loved arrow keys for movement and up arrow for jump.
But great game.
Quite good and creative platformer! I feel there could be more levels and smaller difficulty curve.
Thank you! For sure, we would love to keep making levels with these mechanics outside of the game jam and make the difficulty curve a bit nicer haha
The sounds are definitely something LOL. Really creative, nice job on the assets.
Love it! Everything from the level design, game play mechanics, artwork and audio to the integration of the theme are masterful. I can feel the love the team behind this poured into it. Awesome project!
Fun game - good level design and I liked the integration of the countdown mechanic with the character design/story.
superb level design on display here! although i would have enjoyed it more if the timer was just slightly more forgiving considering how hard the levels already are.
overall, very good game!
I can really see the thoughtfulness in the level design in each and every level, and the art is beautiful! Awesome job!
The Game's art work is fire and the mechanics too. The movement does feel good. I really loved it, one of the most creative games I've played in the jam :D
The art looks amazing
What an amazing creative addictive game. I love it soo much <3
I love how the music changes with each age, its a brilliant idea!
For some reason, the game started lagging, not sure if its in my laptop or the game.
yaaaaaay, i did it!
Thank you so much for playing the whole way through! So cool to see others trying it out and 15 deaths is impressive! I am so glad you noticed the music changing with the age regression, we were very excited about it when we implemented it :)
The controlling the character feels very very good (apart from the grappling mechanic).
The sound effects and the eye balls made me very unconfortable but it works to very well with the implied story (the belt for the adult phase + the alcool in the intro can't be coïncidence)
My main issue is that the "countdown" part isn't really essential to gameplay. I mainly used K to switch abilities and so it becomes mainly aesthetic wich is kind of sad.
Some level design decision also are weird, the end of the last level is imo unfun + I can't find the utility of the first rope on the second to last level.
Even so the game was very fun, audio wise it was perfect, the narrative is nice, the visuals too and the level design is most of the time good.
I really appreciate the thorough feedback, very helpful.
Regarding the countdown, we would also have liked to integrate it better into the game’s core mechanic but unfortunately without the age regression button it led to players having to wait until they could proceed with the next part of the level if they were too quick. If we had lowered the time available at each age then it would have made levels much harder. We will have to figure out a good solution for this outside of the game jam’s 4-day time constraint.
I am glad you enjoyed the game regardless, I really enjoyed yours as well :)
Very polished game :D
Awesome game and the sfx is on point! It's so fun to play!
Why is K the age regress button?
