Wasn't sure what I am doing, and enjoyed it tremendously :D I guess that is how a shrimp would feel if they lied on the resume and got a cook job haha. Love how chaotic it is, super enjoyable physics - at some point I was just choppin' and flippin' for pure fun.

all cooking is just vibes

glad u enjoyed :D

I liked the physics aspect of the game, very uncontrollable and messy.
It’s not very clear at what stage things are cooked though, also I made this mess:

Developer(+1)

omg, you made chef shrimp look like a carnivore hahaha.

thanks for playing, I hope you still had fun!

Totally worth it

A funny game, with a fun physics based cooking game. Also finally got to see the Shrimp fried Rice I keep hearing about!

Developer

thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it

Submitted(+1)

omg this is so funny ghdhfhdhf

I sent the intro to my friend because I loved it so much. I really love the idea. I just wish that it had more explanation. I need a while to understand what you have to do ... what cooking grade etc.. And yeah it's a bit buggy but it made a lot of fun. I can really recommend it to everyone!

thanks for playing and leaving a comment! We thought about adding more tutorials but felt like a FOB shrimp also wouldn't know that either (jk we just ran out of time). I'm really glad you still enjoyed it!

Everything being physics based made it way more chaotic and fun!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for pointing it out! Physics-based was something we were trying out this game jam, so we're super glad you enjoyed playing!

Hehe I loved how chaotic the kitchen got over time! And I laughed out loud when you lightly tap something with the knife (or it falls on accident) and completely eviscerates something. Very funny.

Developer

LOL, yes that was the first mechanic made and we were like "I think thats it, we're done". Glad you found some fun in it too.

Really cute !

Developer

thanks, even though we used a lot of stock images, it made a surprisingly big difference to spend a bit of time cleaning and compositing! courtesy of our artist moshromy :D

Hahaha, this was so much fun! :D

I love the concept, the shrimp chef having to avoid being cooked is brilliant. Nice with the little cutscene in the beginning to explain the concept. The music and the graphics are so wonky and fun.

I had a strategy and a very organized approach in the beginning, but it quickly turned into mayhem (as I'm sure was intended). It was very funny when everything started to go wrong.

Developer(+1)

That's awesome! Simple unpredictable behaviors was one of the challenges we wanted to try this game jam, so I'm so glad you had were able to have fun. Could you believe we spent close to 2 hours on just finding the perfect song

Developer (1 edit)

"we""  lol.. glad the 2 hrs paid off

Review time~

Creativity

You mean to tell me a shrimp fried this rice? The countdown being tied to how fried you are wasn't super clear, but I have a good laugh when I realized.

Enjoyment

Pretty chaotic, I overchopped, over cooked and under served so many things. I will say that some of the interactions when grabbing stuff does occasionally feel sluggish or inaccurate however. The bell hitbox felt inconsistent.

Narrative

Beyond the basic joke premise there isn't too much of a story, however I tend to evaluate narrative on the question of "Has this game successfully met the narrative premise it proposed?" and it does. So full marks.

Artwork

Basic PNG assets and stock images, respectable. I would in future perhaps like to see some post processing effects sprinkled in.

Audio

There's music, and the counter, not much else in terms of sound. A small collision sound would have probably gone a long way to making this game feel complete. Despite there being a bell no sound is heard when ringing it.

Technical / UX / UI Observations

- Opening screen informational text is really small.

- The cutscene at the start should probably indicate click to go next or have a button as to avoid skipping stuff.

Concluding thoughts

Short, sweet, shrimple.

Developer(+1)

Aww thanks for the review! If we had a bit more time I really wanted to add sound effects (among other stuff ;-;) glad you found the game fun and thanks for playing :D

Love the way this plays! Love how stuff is a lil hard to control haha! I like the way stuff is cut up. I don't fully get how the cooking itself works (i noticed the food started getting blacker in the wok, but didn't know how to meassue it right), but it was still fun trying to figure it out!

Developer

Haha thanks for playing! The dev team was deciding between having burn timers on the food or not but we decided to let it be decided by vibes.

Yes shref!

Developer

lmao this made me giggle
