I like it! It’s usually not my type of game, but I think you have nailed it. Simple and it works. Great job!
Thank you so much! Personally, I think there's so much I could improve through the multiple playtests I've done that shows its not the best execution of this idea but I think the concept is there.
Good atmosphere. Spooky! Honestly a little one-note though. No reason to stop firing, i.e., no reason to stop holding down the left click. Might as well be constantly firing at this rate. The sound of the firing is also just a tad grating, and a little too weapon-y for the dark atmosphere you're going for. Still, I love the vision and congrats on submitting for the jam! I wish you the best!
100% Agree! Its actually something that I was trying to figure out during playtesting. Originally the game had slow movement speed while shooting and fast movement when not shooting. But that just encouraged players to keep dodging enemies which is a underlying issue that the game doesn't force you or encourage you to kill enemies. I had a idea on how to fix this but it was 3am and wanted to go to bed so the best solution was to keep those movement speeds equal.
The sounds is definitely too weapon-y totally get that. It was taking a lot of inspiration from THOTH and that was the closest in my oodles of sound assets that sounded the closest. If I were to develop this game after jam, I have a bud who is a sound designer who could create a sound that sounds right for what I'm going for.
Tysm for the feedback! Wish you the best as well.
The eye's staying in the bg is really cool. I think you should add a flash warning though.
Ah your so right. I put it on every post I made about this game except the game itself lmao. Thanks!
really cool aesthetic, i love how well you made an uneasy atmosphere with the sound effects too! i see a lot of potential if this were to be expanded
Thank you! I wanted to make a sense of dread as your playing and I got really close with the atmosphere, wish I could have done more with gameplay to give that same feeling. Depending on the ranking, I might continue working on this game, we'll see! Tysm for the feedback tho!
i am not good at bullet hells at all but this was quite an interesting concept! the eyes from previous rounds freezing and becoming part of the background was a cool touch.
Thanks for playing! The game is definitely tuned to be a lot harder than I expected to be. People tend to be on one of 2 extremes. Super easy but certain things are just annoying or super hard and impossible to beat.
Really liked the vibe of the game and daunting feeling eyes and give with the ambient and all really cool but flashing lights gets a bit tiresome for eyes as well as there is no end to the waves I guess but cool game I like it.
Thanks! I am thinking of ways so it doesn't require a flashing light, such as the silhouette of the enemy is shown every second rather than a flashing light. But that's if I continue this game outside of the jam. Thanks for the feedback tho.
Nice! Smooth mechanics. The shooting sound annoyed me pretty quickly though, maybe add some slight modulation to the sound so it's not always the same. Good job!
Thanks for the feedback! Great idea to change the sound. Maybe a random pitch variation along with having the audio listener in the center of the map so it add variety as to where the sound is playing.
Interesting! I'm sure bullet hell enjoyers can get more out of this than me, the second level is a massive spike in difficulty, orrr its because I'm on a trackpad...
Thanks! Yeah, unfortunately this game was designed around a mouse. Wish I had more time to balance the game for a better difficulty ramp.
Beautiful game! It seemed really hard, or maybe I’m just bad at shmups… I’m curious, what inspired the eye theming? That’s kinda spooky ahaha
The original idea was to have different types of enemies with different colors and unique thing about the. One of them was a black circle that would be hard to see while the others were various shapes. Then doing the art, I accidentally made a eye with the black circle. Then I really liked how fighting those circles were so I made all the shapes black.
Then I really like those shapes and got the idea that the eyes should be the theming around it because of the striking image of the eyes being frozen staring at you. So I made everything a eye inspired by accurate angels.
love the spooky atmosphere and sound effects. Cool idea with surviving waves with a count down
Thank you! I do wish I had more time to develop this. I had so many ideas but not enough time to playtest to see if it was engaging.
