An amazing idea with tons of polish! I loved playing this game! It was challenging but balanced, had cool mechanics, and had great art!
Wow! That is a FANTASTIC way to revisit snake. The countdown theme is wonderfully used, and the gameplay is so smart. Every mechanics is really clear, the puzzle are progressing step by step. This is literally a hidden gem. I hope you'll have the chance to push this game further, it's definitely worth it! Congratulations for making such a great game in the time we had!
I loved this twist on a classic. There were so many things about this game that made it really interesting to play. Your fuse being cut into multiple fuses when they cross (Which could both be a good and a bad thing), the difficulty of both looking at where you're going, while also trying to time the dropping of your dynamite tail at the right moment so it will blow up the obstacle. Bravo! Smooth and polished and felt really good to play. My only issue really is not having the level select be numbered so i can see how far i've gotten :D
Yep, those mechanics were exactly what we were going for, and I’m glad you picked up on them and enjoyed them!
Numbering the level select would have been a good touch. We added the state saving and level select right at the end, so we didn’t get around to doing a polish pass on that bit of the game. There are 11 levels I believe, but you have to keep track of what number you are on, sorry about that.
Oh no worries at all, i was only nitpicking because i wanted to bring something of value to you, and there was not a single thing i would add to the game itself except.. more :D I feel like menus always take very last priority, so that's completely understandable. Sorry if it came across any differently :)
Oh, not at all! I, in turn, just wanted to validate your suggestion as being a good one :)
This game is fun it reminds me of the old game of snake but with a new twist the level disign is creative and fun. Good job.
Thank you!
Really fantastic! Our games are very similar yet very different at the same time. I'm jealous of your explosion FX and your music. The snake feels great and the level design is clever and varied. Wiggler was probably my favorite level. It got very tough after that, but I won in the end. My least favorite part was probably carefully navigating the level for a few minutes only to mess up inside the nest. That happened to me more than once >_<
Thank you! Yeah, one of our members worked on music and sound effects and he really cooked :)
Wiggler is a solid level, good choice! Congrats on beating the game! I hear you on the frustration when you mess up right at the end. That could have used a bit of tweaking, but we ran out of time to perfectly dial in the balance of challenge and fairness.
You game is also a great take on snake + bombs! But yeah, it’s amazing how different our two games ended up with how similar the premise is :)
Thanks for playing!
I love this one. the artwork and music gives it a great personality. The fuse mechanic makes for interesting decisions on which path to take. Level variations are interesting and teach you the mechanics... Well done!
Thank you! We were really happy with how the fuse mechanic turned out :)
Wow, this was a really creative take on the theme, loved it! Fun and tricky levels, nice graphics, even tho it is not my style but still fitted nicely with the gameplay and with the music, and a lot of different outcomes with such a simple idea, gg! :)
Thank you so much!
Awesome game! Puzzles that felt pretty open but still had smart solutions and false ends. The only thing I'd have liked to have seen is buttons that were on the same theme as the rest of the UI.
Haha, we would have liked that too. We unfortunately ran out of time to finish customizing the UI, and we hadn’t gotten to the buttons yet. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles!
It's a good game—like Snake, but taken to a new level. I beat all the levels and really enjoyed it.
Thank you so much, and congrats on beating all the levels!
This is the best game I’ve played in this contest. The mechanics are simple yet incredibly fun. I don’t have to restart immediately when hitting walls. The music, sound effects and animations add so much to the experience. Full marks!
Wow, thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed everything!
good game, i enjoyed it, snake but better
Aw, that’s awesome to hear, thank you!
Great game! I love the idea, and the fact that sometimes you have to bonk yourself in purpose to wait for the fuse to get closer is a really good way to completely spin the original game! The art and music are really good too, and sound effects are good but the explosions were a bit loud, and at the end of each level they were a bit annoying when the snake had too many segments. Either way, really enjoyable. Good job!
Glad you liked it, and enjoyed the way the mechanics work together!
Yeah, we made the explosion a bit too loud by default. There are volume settings in the main menu but we probably should have tweaked that a bit anyway.
Thanks for playing!
Love this type of game that is spin on an old idea. Very fun.
Thank you!
A fresh take on snake I've not seen before. It got very stressful in a good way
Haha, stressful in a good way is exactly what we were aiming for. Glad you liked it!
This is amazing! There's so much strategy involved with managing your snake length, your fuse length, the speed of the spark, and the space you have left. It all comes together so nicely!
Bonus points for the pun :)
Thank you! So glad you like how the mechanics come together! And congrats on beating the game and getting a snake pun!
A very interesting mix of mechanics and abilities, I enjoyed it!
For me the most frustrating part was when losing, having to watch the snake blow up slowly (especially if I was really long). I would’ve loved to get blown up a lot faster to get back into action. Tried achieving something like this by holding R, but still, would’ve been nice to get to that end state faster.
Other than that, really great game. Good job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Haha, we actually liked that you could try and outrun the inevitable when your tail blew up, but I can totally see how that would be more annoying than funny, especially if you are retrying a level a bunch. You’re right that holding R is the best way to skip that part, but I hear you that it’s not necessarily ideal.
Thanks for playing!
The fuse is a fantastic way to interpret the countdown theme and rethink snake gameplay.
Thank you!
Super creative way of expanding on Snake and incorporating the count down theme. I really appreciated the gameplay loop, it was addictive and every death made me want to retry and improve.
Small complaint: The explosion sound effect was louder than the rest of the game. It got a bit annoying sometimes, especially when multiple went off.
Good work all in all!
Thank you, and glad to hear the challenge was the right level for you!
There are volume settings in the main menu, but I think you’re right that we made the explosion a bit too loud by default.
Thanks for playing!
Super cool take on the classic snake game, I really enjoyed the puzzles! 5s and 4 s all around, really well thought out game.
I like being able to leave bombs behind, crossing paths for many fuses, and the artwork fits perfectly.
Wow, thank you so much for the high praise! We also love how the mechanics worked together. It took a lot of iterating to get there!
Really nice adaptation of the classic snake game! I really liked it and was very invested.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it!
