In my honest opinion, one of the best games I played during this Game Jam! I love that there's an actual plot and it's also kinda deep if you give it a few playthroughs: the second time around I tried to prioritize different things and found out more about the story.

The rhythm game was kinda difficult for me, but I have to admit that after a few tries I managed to get it right, even though I couldn't get a perfect score xD

Honestly, I can see a lot of care went into creating this game, the characters are well-crafted, the story has a deep meaning, the choice of music is on point, great work!

Thank you so much, NekoTartina! Glad ypu liked it! :)

It’s a full polished game! And a good one.

My only problem was repeating the minigames if someone was good enough (so it feels like grinding) and losing the whole bonus in training if you did too many errors, especially during the punch training, but for the rest is really good.

Developer

Thank you, Michael!^^ it's a bit punishing yeah :P

A really pleasant surprise! Sports stories usually aren't my favorite, so I didn't expect to get so invested, but the game completely won me over. I especially appreciated how the theme was reflected not only in the gameplay, but also in the narrative. Great job! :D

Thank you, Thund! Really glad you liked it! :)

A very interesting theme — this is the first time I've ever played a boxing-themed RPG. The art and music design are incredibly polished! The overall feel is very comfortable. It's just that the QTE difficulty was a bit too high for me (so it's a pity I couldn't experience all the storylines!). Looking forward to your even better works!

Thank you so much for giving my entry a chance!! Glad you liked it! :)

I really enjoyed this boxing RPG, creative idea! I did find the punching segments extremely hard - I'm not sure if I completed a single sequence - which was a bit frustrating when I was supposed to be training. But other than that I really enjoyed the game, story, and build up. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much, amythyst! :) From the feedback I gathered, I think I did not make very clear that the punching segments are a Rhythm game sorta thing and you got to press the button when the blue circle reaches the key. I'll have to fix that on new versions of the game. Thank you again a lot!^^

Thanks for the reply - I actually did get that! I just really struggled with it, and I really like rhythm games. I couldn't find the correct key fast enough - usually in rhythm games you see them coming before you actually have to hit them, and it's not randomized so you can memorize complex patterns. I feel like if I had to just hit one or two keys correctly (and not 8) like the dodging minigame I could have been more successful, and feel more like I'm punching which is a short move. This felt more like an advanced combo move I think.  I hope that helps.

Ah ok ok! Yeah I should probably give a little more time for the player to register the input before starting the timer! The number of buttons to press can be decreased, actually, but it's tied to a "secret counter" and related to Kale's mental health. I will fix the minigame as soon as I can. Thank you for the precious feedback!! :)

Ooh I see! I like the aspect of the mental health making it harder, and mine was definitely low. That's what iterating is for, I'm sure there's a great solution here. Thanks for taking the feedback, I genuinely enjoyed the game!

Kudos Pat! Really liked the characters, enjoyed them despite the short screen time! The minigames can get a bit repetitive going on indefinitely, so maybe a couple more variations would've helped. I got a couple of different endings, and I wonder how many there are! Great work overall :)

Developer

Thank youuuu! I am very glad you liked it! 💪😎

Sucked at the minigame too much to get anywhere sadly. Movement is a bit clunky. I enjoyed the effort you put into the worldbuilding! Good narrative and details scattered around. Nice job. ♥️

Developer (1 edit)

The Rhythm game minigame is balanced around "having to get the rhythm right through training". It's part of the challenge. So you didn't suck, it's challenging on purpose :) thank you so much, ScepticDope!!
