How does your game fit the theme?
Queue up fireworks that then count down and ignite all the way to the grand finale firework. Players have to manage inventory as it exhausts over time. Think Balatro, but the cards inventory (a.k.a. fireworks) tick down every time you play one.

freesound.org and a couple halftone texture images. I made the rest myself.

Hello from youtube! Such a fun game and a complete package. Crazy you did this solo. Keep up the good work!

I mean it's fine? Feels like a Rube Goldberg-type with the way it encourages chains and synergies, as is typical with any round-shop-round based roguelike; it's Balatro-like in that regard. The game just lacks precision in its explanations, like what constitutes as a "chain"? Would also love some QoL, like the ability to swap fireworks around and preview my score, which I think would've greatly helped with my ability to understand the game. The assets are well-made though, and it's commendably complete and polished. Great job on this game, congrats on participating for the jam, and I wish you the best.

Developer

Yeah, got lots of QoL stuff in the backlog that I wanted to get to, but just didn't have time. 'Tis the nature of a game jam! Thanks for playing!

Apologies if my comment seemed blunt! I was getting tired last night. Truthfully, I liked this game, and I think it's well-made. I'm sure this is quite appealing to the right audience, though sadly that doesn't include me. I'm not really into this sort of games; I only like Balatro but I wouldn't even call that a game I love or anything. I don't really have much to offer for games like this xD. Also, QoL comments are kind of passe, I'm sure y'all already thought of many of these things you wish you were able to add before submitting. Wishing you all the best.

I love the concept, had a great time, what to want more?

The game is very well polished! Great work :)

Cute game, the level of polish is impressive. It was a bit unintuitive at the start, but after reading a bit it becomes very satisfying. Great game overall (I am not sure this one has to become a full game though (;  )

Finally found someone else who did a game based on fireworks! Love the visual design and sound effects. Got addicted to getting higher scores - very Balatro. You got a great amount of polish and juice in such a short time. I could definitely see this being a big hit if you decided to flesh it out into a full fledged release!

This would be a great mobile game

Very polished game! Great artstyle and it feels very juicy. I only wish you added a bit more time between the last firework going off and the round complete UI so I could see how much points my last firework got me, It would have made it a bit easier to understand what everything does but I got the hang of it pretty fast either way. Good job!

I really like how this games looks and sounds, and of course the number going up. I just wish for some sort of tutorial, as well as some more variety in what the fireworks do as they all felt kind of samey and I had a difficult time telling some of them apart in the box.

I really liked the artstyle and amount of polish on this game, it feels juicy as hell and does the balatro style of number go up with elegance on the visuals and audio front. Amazing colors and sounds that hit the mark for sure. I think what the game would have benefitted from most besides a more explicit tutorial is having maybe like a little glossary or something somewhere, or just the breakout info boxes like balatro has for things like steel cards and gold card definitions on jokers, as there were some descriptions that didn't make immediate sense for what they were actually referring to, which made it harder to score points properly. I didn't really understand what was happening and stumbled through a lot of it but the pictures were pretty and I had a good time, awesome work!

I thought I was blazing through this quickly until I looked at my clock and realized 3 hours had passed. Absolutely incredible work. If there were winners for GMTK Jam, this should be one of them!

Developer(+1)

Oh my gosh, this is incredibly high praise. Thank you thank you!

Visually amazing, loved the UI and the items in general.

The sound effects were great and I wish there was a bit more of variation in the fireworks' blasts, but it really needs some sort of music. Even if just during the launching for celebration or whatever.

Although visually stunning, sometimes I would get misses with my cattails, but I guess that's because there's three colors to choose from? I thought there were only two (maybe it's because I'm color blind). The fireworks particles could be a bit more varied depending on the rocket, but that's just a future polish I'd like to see, it's quite amazing for a 96 hour game.

I wish there was some sort of tutorial because it took me a couple launches to understand what had to be done.

Overall, a fun game with amazing visuals and good potential for future improvements!

Day 1 of playing all bomb themed games

It's always crazy to see how people come up with ideas for games in every genre. This one was well polished, congrats. I tried to focus on polishing too but it's hard to achieve it XD

I absolutely love the vibes of this game! The synergies you can create, like my cherry + pineapple bomb run have real potential!! Also love the comic book aesthetic!

This is really polished for being made in 96 hrs! Really creative idea and well executed!
