what an insanely cool narrative concept! feels like an interactive CYOA book combined with a time loop where you get to alter fate using clues from previous runs. the writing and pacing are top-tier, and using the memory tab to uncover names and swap text prompts makes you feel so clever. easily one of the most compelling text games i've played in a jam, amazing work!

Developer

I get really motivated after reading comments like these :) Thank you for playing!

This was a real joy to play. I loved pieceing things together and seeing the text change with different decisions. There was one part where I got frustrated because I didn't know what the game wanted from me. I had entered "Dr Helen Ziman" and it didn't register anything so I tried 4 or 5 different things before I tried "Helen Ziman" and it got accepted. That was the only point of real frustration though and I very much enjoyed it. There was one other odd moment where the character says "Targets, what do you mean targets?" But the word "targets" had not been mentioned, so that was a little odd but hardly gamebreaking.

Well done on creating this, it was fantastic.

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words and for playing :) And thanks for the heads up, I must've missed the targets issue after so many edits. I'll correct it after the jam ends.

Wow. This was so goddamn cool. What a cool narrative concept. I'm floored. Amazing job!

Thank you! I played your game too, and it was terrific. Superlatives a-plenty!

I like the game but I'm not so sure how it relates to "count down"... also found it a bit weird how you can't use prompts from other timelines in earlier timelines to alter the course, but that's probably because it's a gamejam game

Developer

The day "counts down" to the beginning. Thank you for playing!

good story! the time mechanic is well implemented and the writing is pretty good. i feel all the details of your identity could be introduced a little more slowly, and theres a lot of potential in the concept, but it was still very enjoyable

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Great submission, really used the theme well to make for a very compelling narrative. It was exciting learning more and more with each reset.

Developer

Thank you!

Cool narrative and great concept to bring into text form... had a really fun time

The story was absolutely thrilling, a want more!! Incredibly unique concept working with only text and the memory tab, which I was thankful to have because my memory sucks lol. Absolute best jam game I've played with such minimal design :)

Developer

Wow, thank you so much!

Doing a deep delve for hidden narrative gems, and I found this one.

  • Immediately thought the thumbnail buttons were actual buttons. I am an idiot.
  • Small note. Whereas I like the vibe the music gives. The high BPM makes reading kinda hard? Like it is almost distracting. Just the synths on their own without the melody may have been better.
  • From a narrative standpoint. I clicked remember (which I think is the intended first choice).
    • I do notice a few things that are MILDLY jarring in the writing. "My head throbs with pain" is one.  That sentence (to me) would read better as just: "My head throbs." or "My head..."
    • The pacing is REALLY good. The writer must have written novels before or something
    • OK I LOVE THE TIMELOOP AND THE MESSING WITH THE FATE THROUGH JUST TEXT. THIS IS SICK. LIKE A CYOA BOOK but you can read it over and over.'
    • I felt so clever for remembering the code, but then the text just gave it to me without my input. Shame. I wanted to put that in.
    • NM. just played the next loop. We good. The game did what I expected, just one loop later.
    • The writing put me on the wrong foot for the callsign. There was a list and then "The last one". So I put the last one of that list. Not the paragraph after.
    • I feel the rest is too spoilery! I had a WHOLE LOAD of fun with this ;).

Good entry!

Thank you so much for this; it's both constructive and very flattering. "The pacing is REALLY good. The writer must have written novels before or something." - Not really, this is actually the first time I've ever written anything resembling "prose". I actually ran to my wife and showed her your comment, I was very giddy. Thank you for taking the time to play and comment :)

Loved it! The story was compelling and the gameplay very intuitive. Thanks for adding the side bar with all the cues it helped a lot

Developer

Yay, thank you for playing! :)

i love time loops. the story engaged me all the way to the end. i think the musical cues added a lot as well. i like that it was basically a linear experience (nice for a game jam review), but it felt more complex. really nice job!!

Thank you! Played your game as well; amazing art style and overall experience.

A time-loop narrative game, sign me!

I really enjoyed the mechanic that let me switch one bit of text for another. Finding the Tab sidebar was a bit difficult, and I got stuck after opening the brown envelope. I'm not sure what I should've typed to proceed with the story, but I liked it a lot. Any hints?

A name

Developer

Thanks for commenting and playing. This kind of comment helps me improve, since if you need a hint, it means my design could have been better. As for the hint, the assassin is connected to several people in the story.

Not a fan of reading so much in a video game. Maybe this is just not for me

Developer

That's cool, different strokes :) Played your game and liked it a lot.
