Nice game! Was fun to pick up and learn. Good job with making this during the jam!
This is my favourite game in the Jam so far. It’s easy to pick up, really enjoyable, and I absolutely love the audio. I did get stuck in a corner outside the shop, although that was probably mainly due to my lack of experience with this genre. Even so, I had a great time playing it. This is a really polished and engaging submission!
Wow! Actually insanely captivating game! Felt very satisfying levelling up my weapons, and the movement is very nice :)
Cool game! I find that the tunnels I make turn into sort of root structures (one main and small braches and braches of branches and so on), since it's easier to travel there and i find it kidna beautiful!
Wow, what an impressive entry! Everything feels very well thought out, nothing feels unfinished, and the gameplay loop is really satisfying. Love the path mechanic, really quite ingenious! The only thing I could realistically criticise would be the upgrade system; I bought a lot of upgrades very quickly and after that it kind of felt a bit pointless. Otherwise, easily one of the best games I've played this jam!
I really enjoyed it. It's a very fun game for casual play. The mechanic of reusing paths really adds a lot to the game.
This is exactly the sort of game I would've played for hours as a kid on friv. Something with incremental upgrades, procedural generation, ah this brings me back.
There were a couple things I ran into during this (other than rocks) that I think need to be addressed. One, I see there are stats for things like visibility and drill strength, but I couldn't find a way to upgrade those in the shop. If it does exist, I think it needs to be made more obvious, because I was very interested in upgrading those.
Another thing is keeping your dig progress after respawning. If I'm not wrong, couldn't you just dig straight down, respawn, rinse repeat forever? It wouldn't be very fun probably but since score is determined by depth reached, I feel like that's the sort of thing that could be used to optimize the fun out of the game.
I was curious so I just tried doing this myself, I keep running into a bug where I get stuck after entering the shop. So I guess, in a weird way, there is something preventing you from doing that.
Potential cheese aside, I had a good time digging around in this!
thank you so much for these insightful feedbacks.
1. yes there were supposed to be additional upgrades that you saw but for some reason when I uploaded the game to itch.io, I think it has something to do with the html, the upgrade ui does not show up
2. yes thequincally you could just go straight down. I tried to incerase the difficulty of enemies as you went down. but I didn't have a lot of time to tweak the enemy difficulty that much so its possible its too easy right now. but I will for sure have to keep working on that in the future.
3. yes other people told me they had trouble with the shop. I think its because I didn't allow for a fullscreen mode. this is only my 2nd jam and so I was aware of this option but I will definetly look into how to do this in future jams.
This was really fun. I find it neat how going through already dug-through parts doesn't use fuel. I think that more weapon upgrades would be cool tho
Seems like our games had similar ideas haha. I really like that you're rewarded for moving through the partss of the level that you've already dug up! It adds a lot more to the game than if it hadn't been there. It's a shame that a lot of upgrades didn't end up in the game :/ I like the ideas you had for upgrades tho :D
Neat concept. Reminds of Dave the Diver. There's potential here if you'd be willing to explore it! I unfortunately hit an annoying issue though where hitting spacebar just bumped my browser's scrollbar downwards, and despite doing everything I could, I couldn't get it to activate the shop, especially since you hadn't enabled full screen. I won't let that affect my rating though as I can see others below didn't run into this so it was probably on my end. Overall good job :)
I really like the idea to make the already dug areas not consume fuel, it added an extra layer to just digging down. Great game!
Very fun concept and enjoyable to play! Simple without being too boring or repetitive, well done!
