You're required to manage the amount of food for you colony, which keeps decreasing,. You're also supposed to survive the subsequent waves of bosses which get harder and harder (there is countdown for each wave)

It was enjoyable but I kept dying almost instantly a lot of runs. Also I wish my guys stayed always selected when I pointed them somewhere

It's really hard. I think some improvements to the controls would make this game handle a lot better. I don't see a reason for you to ever need to split your herd, so I don't think selecting them is necessary. If you want it to be, maybe add some events to the map like buttons that you have to get a certain number of squids onto.

I also think the squid walking pathfinding could be improved if you used boids (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boids). Like how starling murmurations work.

I do like the art. Cute and simple sprites. Nice!

Found the art really charming and really nice take on the theme. Found it a bit hard but got me playing over again. Some SFX and music would have been nice.

I think the art is super cute. It seems like a pretty unforgiving game. I would try to split my colony so they wouldn't instantly die to the creature just to have them die to the other hazards. Cool concept though

Nice fun game! And I didnt mind the art, it looked fun to me! I didnt notice did the game had a reset button, I hit the page refresh when I died few times.

Nice game, could have used some sounds though. And also a good quality of life feature could be making that the little guys don't get deselected after i move

Can't believe you would make a folk valley game without uncle ekber (Mr folk)

Great concept. Some music and sfx would go a long way though.

cute art, was a bit bummed that there were no sounds, it would have added a lot to the experience.

fyi, i encountered a bug when pressing play during the tutorial, which sent me straight to the game over screen and I had to restart.

Quite simple game, kinda reminds me of a game I made for Brainless' gamejam. I wish the controls were simpler, and that there was sound effects, and maybe some way to get more colonists and stuff. But it's a pretty interesting take on the genre! Really wish you fleshed it out into a more complete game, but probably ran out of time. All in all a fun little game :D

I wanted to add different colonists and a combat mechanic so bad

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, but if I were to recommend things, it'd probably be making it easier to move the colony around and implementing an easier way to kill the boss since it'd just spawn over me and kill me instantly, and also adding SFX and music! Also, the game difficulty is so high, make it a bit easier. Anywho game has defo has potential, good job! :)

rightt, the boss spawning thing was to make sure that all your colonists where nice and spread out, since the boss spawns in your camera position everytime. I should've made it more random and added a combat mechanic.

Cool concept, it was fun.

how do you kill the boss?

Developer

oh my bad, I should’ve made it clearer, you can’t kill the boss, you only try and outlast it until it despawns

Great work getting a game up in time! I had trouble controlling this because every time your troops reach a location, they get unselected, so continually reselecting them was quite difficult. On top of that, if a big enemy spawns on top of you, you die immediately! There also isn't a restart button. It's cool that you added different enemy types though!
