Pretty alright for a first jam, the art style reminds me of ASCII art.

Nice! Quite good for a first jam, The intuitive UI especially, telling the user which keys to press and having a timer on screen. I made it all the way through.

Also little advice is I'm not sure if the ability to escape the stage was on purpose or I missed a secret there, but it made an other wise pretty complete game, feel a little less complete. Also the enemies, if you do an occasional raycast for line of sight, makes them feel a lot more fair and real.

Great job!

Awesome! Thank you!

Yes, I'd love to have line of sight and patrolling for the guardians. I meant to have the gaps be ways into the vagueness of the underworld that would game over if stayed in for too long. Just didn't get there.

Using Ascii in a game like this is quite unique, the stairs that lead to different floors was an interesting concept. I think given more time this could've been a great game.

Thanks! The ascii styling was very much inspired by Nethack and Dwarf Fortress.

glitched out of the map at the end but really good game for a first game jam

Oh weird! Thanks! Definitely had way less time than I was hoping for, but it was a fun creative exercise!

Fun little game! The thing that really blew me away was the music! Also the sound effects on the main menu were a really nice touch, as not a lot of other games have those. Seeing a story element was a nice and fresh! I did think it was a little weird how there were gaps the seemed to lead outside the level, but overall it was a fun adventure!

Thanks! Glad you liked the music! I was inspired by Nathan Kolosko's "Hungarian Trio: Ancient Melody" as I envision this taking place in the mountains of central Romania. I can't take credit for the menu as it was part of the Bevy 2d CLI template. I was thinking about having gaps in the map where you just wander out into the ether as a metaphor for losing your way in the underworld, but I didn't get around to any sort of state-based acknowledgement of that.
