How does your game fit the theme?
You defeat enemies by playing progressively lower cards like in solitaire. Time is always ticking down, speed things up with your cards and discarding when you need to.

Some good concepts that could be fleshed out into something really fun. The balance is a little poor, though; I found myself rerolling my hand over and over to get the one card i needed and that part got kind of boring after a while. The artwork is also quite nice.

So much fun. The gameplay idea was easy to pick up and I think it would be a lot of fun if it were expanded on! Would love more items in the shop and synergies. The only thing is that for some reason the Yellow text never stuck out to me even though I knew I could use both colours on it. Maybe another indicator as well would be good.

One of my faves from this jam.

The idea is very creative. I think having the two colors feels like a cool idea, but it when playing, it feels a little annoying. the redrawing seems weird with having to discard to speed up the timer. it's not a huge problem, so other than that, great game! Good job!

Second time i see a card base combat system with count down in this jam. This is better and well executed than the other one

Right after the theme was announced, I wanted to start working on a game like this. We ended up going on a totally different direction. I like yours! Well polished and nice depth to it. Good job!

I liked the idea, it gives off Balatro vibes.

What a well-polished game! Easy to learn but with some interesting depth to it. Nice stuff.

I like the idea of this, but I'm not sure all the card effects worked (the numbers on cards in hand never seemed to change?), and I think the deck tuning could be more interesting (I really wanted to be able to have fewer fives and more 3/2/1 cards). As it is now, it was mostly waiting on/dragging cards to the redraw timer over and over again trying to get the last 1s I needed. Loved your background art and the jazzy beat in the background!

Gosh, weird that grow and shrinking were breaking! I know a lot of folks had them work properly, but you and previous comment had it breaking. Could you tell me if you were mobile/windows/linux?

Desktop, running on Chrome on a Windows laptop :)

I really liked the game! Reminded me a bit of Balatro. I struggled a bit with the grow and shrink effects (I do not think the cards in my hand actually changed value?). Also, sometimes the enemies overlapped so that I could no longer see the numbers. A really great game stll!

(copied from the person after you, two in a row having this issue is weird)

I played in the browser directly on Windows (in Chrome)

What a great game! So glad you reviewed our game and brought my attention to yours :) best of luck for the rest of the jam!

Really fun game! Loved the unique card affects you could get. Great work ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜.ᐟ

It's one of my favorite games so far! The use of the theme is great. I found it really addictive to play cards and then quickly discard them in the hope of drawing the good numbers. I also wasn't expecting the introduction of new card with unique effects after the first level, that was a really pleasant surprise! Very impressive for a game jam.

That was so much fun! Thank you for making this!

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely loved it! I played through the whole thing and while it was very easy, I appreciated having the time to figure out what everything did instead of just getting thrown into chaos. Great job!

Good idea. Enemies are pretty easy to defeat except the last fight. But overall it's pretty interesting

Cool idea! I think the UI could be a bit more streamlined since right now it's quite big but I'm a fan of the abilities and mechanics!

Was on wave 3 when the score glitched, sent me to the shop but didn't allow me to select any cards, set my money to 999 then got stuck in a transition on the next wave. Really novel idea, and I enjoyed playing it!

Developer

Yeah I think the way that happens is Dense (do extra damage) overkilling iterates the kill counter and does funky stuff. The game usually works fine but that in particular seems like an annoying edge case thing :( Glad you enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed playing this game, and would love to see an expansion on its concepts!

really dig how you incorporated the theme, and I am absolutely a sucker for a deckbuilder! I do wish some of the encounters were a little less overwhelming, but I could absolutely play this for a while.

Developer

So fair, the encounters get real hectic! Using the enchantments to manipulate numbers definitely helps with consistency, and echo (return to hand) and dense (do 2 extra damage) help with the enemy stopping power each hand has, but even then then time pressure can totally get to ya. Glad we could make something for the deckbuilder enjoyers :)

Very creative take on the theme, it took me a little while to get used to the mechanic but once I understood it, the game is an interesting challenge to try and beat. The main issue I noticed was that it's hard to drag some cards when the enemies are overlapping each other, but otherwise a good game with fun upgrades! Nice job!
