I’m not sure the Space key is working? I started using E and was able to get past the tutorial at least.
A timing-based counter is a really interesting idea to explore, kind of like a mix of a fighting game and a rhythm game. I wonder how well it might work if it were set to music, Crypt of the Necrodancer style?
I really liked the aesthetics and artwork a lot. I don’t know how well the mechanics would hold up for a full game, though - I think you would end up just dodging bullets and waiting for the counter to line up.
Regardless, I enjoyed playing it. Great submission!
the game is great!
I really enjoyed it.
well done to the whole team.
very good art in game
Very creative take on the theme! Super fun and addicting to play, and the sound is very satisfying on counter! Well done! I wish you could add mouse controls for the wheel and maybe make the wheel pattern change more predictable.
I loved the concept, I just wish the actual wheel was more specifically synced with the attacks to enable more specific responses to certain attacks. Often it just kinda feels like running around waiting for bullets so you can parry them. The game unfortunately hardlocked on the final attack of the final boss but other than that no issues.
This was a really cool take on the theme! My main critique would be the music and the sound effects, which didn't really give a "dramatic boss fight" feel to the game. Otherwise I thought it was pretty cool. I do wish I could have used left mouse to counter though instead of E, since that would have made it easier to press WASD at the same time.
Probably the only game of this kind ive played. The gameplay and use of the countdown theme is very unique, i was immediately addicted. Unfortunately the game sometimes lagged when too many particles were pawned, and just before beating the last boss the game crashed for me. Other than that it looks and feels very polished and has a good style.
Cool take on the theme!
I got a bit confused at the start as countering didn't work for me when pressing space, but once I started using K I've had some fun. I was also surprised to see that using red executes a dash, I'm not sure how useful that would be but it feels nice to use :D
Interesting concept, but for me the controls felt a bit clunky; I guess only the purple counter actually reflects bullets back? But then since the count-down slices change after every counter, there wasn’t a consistent rhythm to it. Maybe it would be better if it changed after every couple of counters instead. On the other hand, it was a nice choice to tick faster if you chain counters; it really makes the combat feel intense. The visuals were also wonderful and sold the atmosphere very well. The SFX was a bit lacking, though. Besides these minor grievances though, it was a solid game and I think there’s something there that could develop into more!
Really unique game, i didnt realise i could move for some time, even though i read the instructions at the start.... but once i did i saw the potential this game has, the counter FEELS good, the boss felt fair, and it is all topped off with a great art style, great work man!
Easily 5 stars! It took me a sec to realize I could move around for some reason..... I think I'm just an idiot lmao. Once I did though I had so much fun. A lot of room for skill expression here!!!
It felt satisfying to counter!! I love countering :)) Space didn't seem so work so I was using K!
easy to learn hard to master. phenomenal gameplay. i loved everything about it!
Pretty nifty, it is a little tricky to master. I only saw two distinct countering colors, and apparently, only E key worked...
I'd kind of prefer the counter buttons to be on my mouse, instead of the E key, which is a little too close to WASD :) Other than that, I enjoyed the game pretty much.
Made it until the final boss, and I'll return for it.
Cheers!
The game was low-key very well crafted! I loved the effects and the way the art and music worked together to set up the suspenseful environment! You did such awesome work; it was really hard to understand what i should do even in the tutorial, I must say. But, I really enjoyed the game once I understood how to play!
Very polished! Great work on that. Unfortunately I have a skill issue :c
Cool idea both on the theme and the mechanic, controls felt a little awkward but once I got the hang of it it was a lot of fun. Very in depth parrying mechanic and bullet hell game, great job!
WOW, this game was good! The aesthetics, the mechanics, and the design just gelled together so perfectly. I love how the clock ticks down faster with each successful parry; it had the dual benefit of allowing skilled players to dish out damage faster while also making it harder to maintain that streak. The bosses were all so well designed and had some nice personality to boot! My only minor quibble is that I experienced some slowdown, but honestly, it was worth it for the thrilling bullet-hell gameplay. This is easily one of my favorite games I've played this jam. Amazing work, and good luck!
This was very juicy, lots of polish. I felt like I didn't understand the mechanics, I could not get past the second level :(
Very creative fighting style. I had a lot of fun playing this. The art and animations look great and the bullet patterns are really cool. I do have to say that I would have enjoyed the game slightly more if I could also use the mouse as a click method. E feels very bad because moving right and e at the same time is difficult. K is a good button
