really cool atmosphere! I've never played a game with this kind of feel, and I love the music!
love the atmosphere you created with the narrative and art style. feels very unique and the whole game has such a strong identity! Great game!
We would also love to hear your feedback on our game! :)
Thank you for the review, I’ll do my best to return the favor soon!
simple but oozing with style very interesting setting
Thank you!
really underrated game, i love the narrative and artstyle! this game was also super difficult, but it fits the theming.
Thank you, I hope we all get more feedback, everyone deserves to have their work appreciated!
Gameplay was stressful sometimes but I liked it that way. Writing and character design for the wheat collector was very good.
Haha, thank you! Dialogues were produced in the last stressful hours with a thought of writing at least something…
Fantastic idea ! I felt the Bela Tarr and Tarkovsky influences :) I couldn't figure out how to feed my family but who cares, it's a very original and enthralling entrance to the jam.
Thank you, that’s Russian melancholy, haha! Family feeds itself if you have some food in a storage!
Heartbreaking, to say at least. Really interesting, atmospheric and beautiful
Thank you, really appreciate!
This game is gorgeous. I am a sucker for pixel art styles/color palettes just like that. It took me a few tries to get the hang of what I was supposed to do, but it's a very creative loop nonetheless. Honestly though, one of my favorite so far visually. Well done!
Thank you, hopefully we’ll do a more advanced tutorial in the post jam release soon!
The art and narrative were definitely an excellent experience, personally I feel that the gameplay could have been improved, the random events that destroy the field seems to come outta nowhere and the repetitive nature of clicking and dragging each individual tile to and from the inventory and field did get tedious after a while (maybe thats intentional for the aesthetic though? not sure), either way its a really impressive feeling game!
Thank you for your remarks! We were initially planning to give each event a precursor that warns a player: rain should start with darkening and clouds, drought with a smooth sun light increase and so on. I hope we’d find strength to do this in the post jam build!
The overall game expirience was very atmospheric, it really captured the feeling of being stuck between two lines of fire as a innocent farmer. The music, artstyle and stressful gameplay loop all worked towards that goal.
Thank you for such words!
I had a good time checking out field. The main concept was easy to understand and fun to try. The art direction gave it a lot of personality.
Thank you, onhore did a great job on the art!
Really fun but also stressful experience. Loved the art and loved the way the game was paced, it's constantly keeping you on your toes and you need to figure out the best techniques to optimize your planting and save wheat.
Thank you, really none of our merits!
The narrative and gameplay really go hand in hand. I thought the game was a little too easy then I get hit with drought right before the tax man was arriving. Felt like a genuine poor farmer as I watched him take most of our stockpile and I didn't have enough left to replant and still feed my family. Crazy you could evoke such feelings in a game made so quickly!
Thank you! I think we should give retribution to God for miraculously making all that synergy and also for the random that is occurring in each playthrough that gives it a unique story! There are no merits of ours here!
holy crap, this game is good. So powerful. Reminds me a lot of papers please. Just absolutely teeming with melancholy. Affected me way more deeply than I thought it would. The ending is great yet still so bleak. Perfectly nailed this. Best jam game I've played yet.
Thank you! We were initially aiming for the farm sim but it turned out more like Papers Please, and I liked that a lot, haha!
I love the historical setting and narrative. Showing the player how the peasantry were affected by the Bolsheviks by having them deplete a rapidly draining wheat supply, brilliant ludonarrative. The music was cool and the pixel art was impeccable.
Thank you for kind words, It’s very inspiring!
I really like the mood and vibes of the art. It was really nicely done.
One bit of feedback is that I think it would've been nice if I could've seen more clearly when to harvest the crops as it wasn't entirely obvious when they were "ready" for harvest.
The thumbnail art is gorgeous but it made me expect some sort of somber horror or gritty realism game and I was slightly disappointed when I had to plant crops instead.
Crops are ready when they are yellow, but you also have a chance to not gather anything. I think it breaks a pace a bit and that’s what may make you feel that you’re gathering them not in the right time!
Thank you for your honesty!
Love the vibes
Thank you! It’s really complicated with the difficulty, once you got it right it becomes too easy, but it still requires a lot of work!
I've already commented but I am still playing this, it's great! Really wanted to put this idea out. The one thing I've thought of as an improvement is smaller storage as the rotate item feature is in but it doesn't really do anything. If you also had to manage storage space I genuinely think it would be a near perfect game. I would love so much if this got a full release after with that one change to make all mechanics used to their fullest!
Yes, we thought about expanding storage and farm site during the gameplay, also maybe filling the storage with random items and tools that take precious place! I hope we’ll find some time and strength to work on the game a bit more after the jam!
very cool aesthetic and story! I just didn't really understand how plants works and why some items vanish from my stock xd but it was nice!
Thank you, we would like to have more time to describe all that in the game, but there wasn’t enough time… Items are eaten by your family! It’s simple: you sow an item, plants grow, then you collect them into new items, cycle repeats. If you don’t collect the plants in time, they rot. Different items have different plantation size. Random events can destroy your plants or items.
Thx I understand better now
