How does your game fit the theme?
The character you play as has an energy count that goes down each room he enters, also he likes cosplaying as a count (that's just for the pun not the main mechanic)

This was such a fun puzzle to solve that I even had to draw a map! It is well-developed, bug-free, and the art is excellent. I loved the deeper concept of balancing energy levels. It left you to figure out which activities restore you versus which ones drain you to avoid burnout or laziness. The subtle mental health message was inspiring.

the only review that matters <3

Where is the crash I learnt? Need to be reimbursed for not having it! è_é

It took me a while to understand that we need to act to change room, having no door, I though I should just walk. Once I understood, I could get 4 keys. I think the first three enable to get them one after another but the fourth in the basement, I did not understand where I could use it.

Otherwise, simple cozy game.

If I should change two things, that would be the readability of the timing/energy going down and collisions. For this last one, I expect having only my feet to collide, and in general only the part that is touching the ground.

I actually enjoyed playing it, thanks.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for your feedback and im glad you enjoyed playing it!!!

i agree that the collision was really messy xD, still learning, gonna be at your level one day so watch out :P (gonna take YEARS until i can make something like yours that fast omg)

Submitted(+3)

I was prepared for the game to crash, it did not.

The timer for doing an action is a bit long and since it has no visuals it is easy to mistake it for a game freeze.
I think there are leftover invisible collision boxes witch kind of makes the movement a bit hard to get into.

Once you get used to it, everything is good.
So far I have not been able to complete all tasks, the fatigue system is a bit harsh  =)

If the smelling of the door is touching grass then I did touch grass.
Did the shower
Did pack the sister clothes
Did eat
I grabbed all 3 keys but wasn't able to go down into the basement or outside?

I wasn't able to go outside. Mby I'll give it a few more tries...

I actually enjoyed the game! I think it achieves his goals making you explore the house.

Congratulations on joining the Godot community =)!
Good luck and to many more projects!

P.S. The count looks more like a girl to me XD could easily pass as a countess too.

hehe lemme give you a hint on stuff that can help you, you can interact with the gameboy in his room and the tv remote (these two have a random chance of either making your mood better or worse so be careful :3)

the stuff with blue-ish outline is supposed to be things you can interact with (the shower and fridge has a blue outline too!)

thank you so much for giving the game a shot and for the extremely thoughtful comment!!! it genuinely makes my day when someone says they enjoyed it <3

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

If anything, I would change the outline of the objects to a lighter color, I did not notice it and it is quite hard to see it when it gets dark.

The random chance messed with me. I was sure the gameboy is bad and the TV is good, but wasn't sure why the sometimes it got dark.

Thank you for the tips!

Developer(+1)

that's great advice thank you SO SO much for taking the time to complete the game, truly made my day <3

Nice art, kinda confused on what to do so I failed to touch grass. Not bad though

Submitted(+1)

I loved the art and the concept seemed, cool but the game kept freezing on me when I interacted with items

Developer(+2)

I'm so sorry it kept freezing for you, I genuinely have no clue why that happens and a handful of people also reported crashing, i would be hugely thankful if you try to give me more data so that I might get close to figuring it out, me and my team tried it on multiple browsers on windows 11 and it always worked fine, can you tell me the browser you were using and if you had any extensions that could've messed with it and your os version? Thank you so much for taking the time to try it and commenting tho!

Submitted(+3)

I was using Firefox and I have Ublock origin extension running. I will try it again this evening on a different browser and see if anything changes.

Submitted(+2)

I really like the concept but unfortunately it kept freezing when interacting or changing rooms.

I love the pixel art tho ^^

I could have used some setup in the game itself, rather than just on the Itch page. A task that was more tutorial-like would have helped me understand what I was meant to do in game! For some reason on my screen, the carpets in the second room looked like obstacles, so I wasted time walking around them instead of over them. Oops. Loved the pixel art, though!

Potential art winner?? It's up there :0

Developer(+1)

thank you SO much, i woke up from a nap to this comment and it really made my day <3

i do believe in my artists, they did such a good job for real!!!

Submitted(+2)

Decent idea, although I was really confused on what I was meant to do, the hitbox was a bit wonky aswell, often got stuck on things.

Submitted(+2)

The pixel art looks nice! I think the game could use a tutorial though, and unfortunately it froze most of the time when I tried to go through doors.   :(

No worries! I'm on Windows 10 and was using Brave (a chrome variant).

If I were to hazard a guess at what might have caused the bug, my first instinct would be that you're probably doing some kind of raycast/collision box check when the player hits the interact button to see if he's trying to interact with the door, and it's probably colliding with something else. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if when you try to get a pointer/reference to the door object, you might end up trying to call a function that doesn't exist, or if you cast the collided object, you could be left with a null reference if it's not actually a door. I could be wrong of course, but that would be the first thing I checked if I were you.   :)

Submitted(+2)

The game freezes too much for my to try it enough sorry :( (it's almost aways when I try to take a door)

I really like the pixel art though, well done :)

I like it. I was trying to do this without looking at the instruction. And I almost got it, just missed the shower one. It was fun to play.

I had similar game idea in my head at first, but I did not knew how to execute so I dropped it, playing this I realize this is exactly kind of game I was thinking in my head.

Developer(+2)

awww thank you so much! sorry for all the bugs and im glad you love the concept so much! we could collaborate on other game jams in the future :)
the game was heavily inspired by omori :D

Submitted(+3)

I really like your interpretation of the theme ^^ I replayed the game a bunch of times because I wanted to figure out how to get outside ^^ also very cute artstyle ^^

Developer(+1)

awww thank you sm, makes my day when people appreciate my two artists, huge kudos to them indeed, thank you so much for taking the time to see it through, i genuinely appreciate it <3

Fun game! I found it a bit confusing to figure out what keys went where, though.

Developer(+1)

thank you for the feedback! do you have any suggestions on how to make that feel less confusing? in my mind it made sense cuz the character just moved in and there's a mess everywhere and a bunch of boxes so even the character doesnt know, but maybe there's another way that i can't yet think of to make the whole keys thing less confusing, what do you think my friend?

(+2)

I would maybe find a way to put visual locks on the doors with the keys color. I just couldnt tell what doors needed what keys.

Developer(+2)

ooooooh that gives me an idea! thank you SO SO much for your feedback!!!

It's a cute game! I like the art and the environment. It does sometimes break, but it's still a nice experience.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much!!! im sorry for the breaking i'll get it fixed after the voting period is over but thank you for giving it the time :3

I really like thiss type of game, lots of experimenting on pathing and where to use the items etc. overall had a fun time trying to beat it, good job

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I'm so sorry for all the bugs along the way, I love that type of game and I'm so glad I submitted at all in time, I know the bugs are really annoying but I promise I'll fix them after the jam, again thank you :3

Submitted(+3)

Congratulations on completing a game in the time. Always wonderful to have more people in these game jams.

I liked all the art and general feel of the game. It was very tight with the timing, not really allowing much exploration or mistakes. But given the experience you were creating and it being a game jam entry, I agree with some other comments about getting confused about where I start in the central room. One other thing I found is there is no way to know what a key is for without experimenting. It's still a great first game jam entry, really well done all.

Submitted(+4)

I like the art and the narrative. Gives a bit of an cozy vibe. The small things that you can interact with are cool. What I really recommend is to set the character where the door is. It is really confusing when you leave the room and spawn in the middle of it. I don't likte the sound effect when entering a door ... idk it feels a bit weird to hear this sound. Also the game could have benefitted a lot from music.

I saw that this is your first game jam, and I’d like to congratulate you!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Yep the audio thing and the hallway spawning you in the middle each time instead of Infront of the correct room are bugs and we didn't have time to find music, you're absolutely right on all that we were inexperienced and wasted some time, but I'm so glad you enjoyed the art and narrative, huge kudos to my two artists, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment :3

idk why but when i interact sometimes the game crashes

Developer(+1)

it crashes? it's meant to just have a 2 second cooldown that makes you pause for a bit (sorry there's not animation for grabbing the object and such) but im sorry it crashes with you

Developer(+1)

ive been getting reports from other users that the game crashes with them even tho it works just fine with me on microsoft edge and my team tested on chrome and it works fine with them too, not a single crash with any of us, im so sorry

Submitted(+3)

I really liked the art and the small things you can interact with like smelling or bathing
