How does your game fit the theme?
December 31st attempts to work with the Count Down theme in the story, atmosphere and gameplay to varying degrees of actual quality. The game follows someone struggling with the pressures of oncoming life and creating while the gameplay has a manifestation of... which desperately fights against the clock to keep themself going in a timed platformer. The visual theming was New Years as it fit the idea of countdown and could provide an interesting aesthetic whilst working with the rest of the game as a global timer. A signifier of how progress "should" be going in both the life of Riley and wherever you are in your stage. We thought this idea was fun in a meta way since we're celebrating 10 years of one of the most awesome game jams and the idea of struggling to create and feeling a pressure to have things work out by a deadline obviously rings true in the plot of the game. That is in large part the intention but fittingly enough we ran out of time, badly. I list all these things not as a way to sort of remedy the actual poor game experience but to show how much care we have for the game and its ideas and the time we spent with it. And I hope someone enjoys a shred of it. ALSO I'm so sorry for blabbing on in this its probably supposed to be a sentence or two

Unfortunately, my monitor is an ultrawide and the game does not scale to match it or have an option to go windowed. The left half of the game is just completely black, so I can't play it. But from what I saw of the artwork, it seems pretty slick! Still rating well because it's a hardware issue on my side more than anything

I liked the opening sequence, I thought it was cool. Unfortunately, on the first level I could pick up the first clock, but not the second. I think if you had a bit more experience on your hand, you would knock it out of the park! Excited to see what's next for you.

It's tough to make a game in just a few days. Good effort! I think the opening scene is cool and I like the art style, could be interesting to see where it's going with the story.
