I think it is now becoming a yearly tradition that I comment on Matt's games very last minute (this year literally)
Cool story, easy to learn gameplay, satisfying cutting effect.
sorry the first comment was very lacking.
To add to it. I really like the idea of losing "parts of the game" as it goes on, although it might be a little confusing or frustrating, as players (me included) are usually used to getting stronger not weaker (although games have done that in the past too to great success, mostly narrative one, so in this regard Until the Bitter End fits perfectly)
One question, the orbs that shoot out from my character at the start, should I be able to redirect them by walking into them or is this a happy little accident of not turning off physics on them? :D
This was an amazing experience. I really liked the story, it was a bit melancholic but very beautiful ;-;
Everything about this game is top quality, this is definitely one of my favourite games in this jam. Congrats!
OMGGGGGGGG Your game is so nice, I already added it into my collection. The artworks look so impress, the cover image is the main reason why I clicked on your game and play. The Narrative is also good, the used of sfx and the BGM also reasonable. Is that you don't allow player to move by WASD and Aim with the mouse intentionally? I think the game gonna be easier if you allow that in the core game, but you can consider that if you create an endless mode. Nice game, I love it so much <3
This may be one of the best games I've played all Jam! I loved the art, the story, the mechanics, everything! Normally I'm left with a feeling of "this game would be great, if only they did [STUFF]" but I genuinely cannot come up with a criticism. You guys did an incredible job and incorporated the theme beautifully!
Recommended to me for the narrative. Very cool!!
Beatiful art, beatifu idea. Executed with really cool ways. I guess this is what teamwork looks like. I like how you incorporated an actual story with 2D art and presented a universe.
For the combat I would like to attack on where my mouse is, otherwise I can't actually fight or kite. I need to get back constantly wich makes me loose too much time.
One problem with UI, "Enemies Incoming" appears too often, sometimes while still in action. Generally there is too much UI.
Aside from that I really liked the game, well done!
This is truly an amazing game, really engaging and fun. It had great premise of a good narrative. Amazing 2d art, nice gameplay which was easy to follow and play with, and just an overall amazing experience.
I did have a couple issues with the dialogue boxes but they are all mainly personal pref, I'd like to be able to skip to the end of the text instead of having to go the next dialogue.
The 3d models could definitely be improved but they aren't too bad.
My main takeaway from this game was 100% the story and the 2d Art style, they were the sunshine and rainbows really so well done for an amazing art direction and a pretty nice story.
I'm unsure if it's even winnable, but If it's not, I love that. A game where you end up losing is also a welcome change.
I'm not sure how, but if it is expanded upon, I would love to play it!
Fantastic game!
Music, story, and art were fantastic. I enjoyed my time playing it. Also glad that you know how to actually optimize an unreal engine game :)
I think if I were to add/change one thing it would be a bit more variety in the game world itself. The story does a lot of great worldbuilding but I'd love to see more of it told environmentally.
All the 2D elements look amazing, the 3D do the job but it does make your dream like the 2D ones do ^^
The "curse" design, of loosing abilities is frustrating, but fit so much with the title that i cannot realy say anything againt it.
Well done for this dark narrative btw
The music, story and art were all beautiful!! I'm really impressed by all you managed to create in the deadline. The cut from the beautiful 2d art to the 3d was a little jarring, but I'm chalking it up to a short deadline. Overall, good work!
This game was pretty good. Its very refreshing to see a submission that focuses on narrative! The countdown mechanic was well implemented and I liked how the knight gradually lost his powers as time went on , and that there was a lore reason for it. The 2D art in the dialogue and cover is this games biggest shine in my opinion , i could really stare at it for some time , it is really high quality. The music was beautiful and accompanied the events of the game really well. The story was easy to follow and wrapped up nicely. Im really suprised to see a submission made in Unreal Engine. My only potential issue with the game is that the font choice for the dialogue , while it looks pleasant , has some issues with readability. Other than that , the game is great!
really nice cover art and just general art in the game. getting weaker over time is a nice idea it makes the game less simple!
beautiful cover art
Cool game
In most games the hero can fight for hours and hours and never get tired. This game questions that design flaw and makes your hero so tired after the first 3 minutes that he can't do anything anymore but pray. That's why you gotta bring backup, you can't reach far alone in this world. Lesson learned, 10/10 realism. Good job!
The artwork is out of this world, and the lore is pretty deep for a gamejam game, great storywriting, good job. It was very fun to slash and dash through big slimes for what it lasted.
From a gameplay point of view, I would have loved a way to win the fight, but lore-wise it made sense to be doomed from the start.
Great job yall
Pretty fun experience! The concept of losing your power as time goes on will always be one of my favorite examples of unorthodox gameplay. Tho the gameplay is a little bit simplistic, which is fine considering the time frame, my favorite aspect of this game is the art. LIterally bookmarked the page as soon as I glanced it lol. Good job in any case
Thank you for playing it! <3
