How does your game fit the theme?
In this game, you play as a number that constantly ticks down while fighting enemy numbers. You must attack them to force their numbers to go down before your own number reaches 0. Even the enemy waves start at 10 and go down to 0 as you progress through the game. Your objective is to go through all the enemy waves, raising your number as you defeat enemies, before your number reaches 0.

sorry for the late response, you can move around with WASD!

A DOS edutainment game was not what I was expecting for this, but it works out really damn well; the artstyle, sound effects, and music (made by myself 👀) sell it amazingly. It's a simple game, but it's one that's among my favorites in the jam.

Developer(+1)

we kindly asked Eribetra to make the music for the game, but refused to show him anything so it would be a surprise!

the music he made is out now in Bandcamp… https://eribetra.bandcamp.com/album/countys-numberhouse-ost

So incredibly STYLISH! I had a smile on my face from the moment the startup logos appeared, right till the very end. The gameplay was very fun, despite essentially being a standard arena battler with a constant poison effect. I enjoyed the different weapons, swinging the axe around was my favourite. One of, if not the best art direction I've seen in this jam!

It's like if sonic's schoolgrounds, baldi's basics, and numberjacks had a baby.

Hilarious game presentation-wise, absolutely adore the old DOS educational game aesthetic and the comedy. Gameplay-wise I wish there was a bit more as it's fairly basic and the enemies can be a bit unfair depending on spawn and projectile RNG. The different weapon upgrades are fun, albeit the stick feels too similar to the basic weapon and kinda wish there was more variety overall. I did enjoy it nonetheless for the experience alone thanks to the presentation.

heheheh such fun graphics and sounds, curious to know you get such crunchy low bit sounds.. for a game that is very simple mechanically, it had a lot of good wrapping to make it feel engaging until the end! only note is that several times i accidentally clicked menu buttons when trying to hit enemies- potential solution is to make some other input show the menu to avoid that. had a lovely time with this !!

First all 5 stars I’ve given this jam.

I could see this being an actual game. It’s charming, fun and silly in the best way possible. I hope to see more from you on this!

Developer(+2)

thank you so much for your kind words!! we're sorta discussing the possibility and we hope to someday make the time for fleshing it out for sure. so glad you enjoyed the game!!

I loved the theme of this, and the "fun" button gave me such a genuine laugh. I wish there was something to mitigate enemies spawning on top of you, but otherwise I loved the gameplay loop.  Very fun and chaotic game, I really enjoyed it.

Developer(+1)

so glad you enjoyed it! fun fact, i pitched a way to keep the enemies from spawning on top of you to flines but he completely ignored it and went for fixed positions instead. easier to program i suppose

The game is very entertaining, I like the variety of weapons and potion effects and enemies (My favourite is the gun ), the contrast between the fun educational game style artwork with ruthlessly killing sentient numbers is very amusing and adds to the enjoyment of the game. Being able to kill 100 is a nice touch to skip the tutorial and the eldritch scream from clicking on "fun" on the main menu had my boots shaking, amazing game

Really good idea, and we like the weird horror undertones the game has. But the fact that the game relies on frantic clicking and the fact that there's always an exit game button on the screen makes it kind of frustrating to play. Still fun though!

More people need to see this, its not only good, but extremely funny, killing county was so funny hahahah

This was amazing, i am overjoyed, i found the gameplay loop very very interesting and fun, the fact that YOU had to do a swinging-like motion to hit with the AXE was top gameplay mechanics for me, for real that made me lock in inmediatly. The artwork was amazing, i do love those retro CGI aesthetics and it also reminds me of Baldi's Basics which is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. Fantastic, amazing game, i hope y'all make MUCH MORE games, cuz i'd be willing to support everything, kudos!!

Stylization is genuinely perfect, reminds me of Nubby's Number Factory (but better). I loved how you could kill the mustache guy to skip the tutorial.

Developer(+1)

the amount of decibels used to quantify the volume of how hard i laughed throughout the entire process of implementing the ability to kill County cannot be expressed in human-comprehensible units
thank you for playing and glad you liked it!

I loved this game, the art style is just perfect, the gameplay is fun, everything in this game is incredible.

One of my favorite games from this gamejam. I hope the team behind this game can do more games, i love this.

incredible stuff!!! cant believe this doesn't have more ratings. i loved the axe mechanic. visuals and sound design are top notch.

Amazing emulation of the Sonic Schoolhouse style in your entry,  with great frantic gameplay to boot! Good job!

Submitted(+2)

Well this one was quite the trip! Definitely earned some style points for this one, and the gameplay is also very on the theme!

Submitted(+2)

An edutainment style game is actually a pretty clever way to interpret the theme. And you went all out with it, which is great. It's fun, I like how all the weapons are unique. The axe was my favorite since I could waggle my mouse around to deal a ton of damage.

watch out for bombs

Developer(+1)

Axe is my fave as well. Thanks for playing!
