Dang, great polish and good concept!
It quickly becomes a thinker, so I would rather play a single level of it per day rather than a chain of them with liabilities and a timer. Instead I want to take my time and get scored by the least number of operations I used.
Sort of like a daily New York Times puzzle but for math nerds. It’d be in good company among Wordle and Connections. :)
Thanks Diego! Yeah, I was definitely thinking about all those hip puzzle games like Wordle when I was making this for sure. I did start with a single level, but it seemed a little short and clumsy that way. I conceived of the Liabilities to also get a player-driven difficulty curve in there for players who really want to test their math skills. Thanks for playing!
This is really polished! It reminds me of some of the games out of the Jackbox Games collections. I'd love to see what you do with this next because it has a lot of potential.
Oh, I love Jackbox but hadn't even thought of that connection. Great insight!
Solid concept, satisfying and really polished overall!
Thank you!
Well polished game with nice art and audio.
The typewriter noise, in particular, is so satisfying.
Only suggestion I would make is trying to make it more obvious to the player that a number can be used more than once (until you pick the modifier where it can't).
I originally assumed that each number *had* to be used exactly once, so I failed the first puzzle with my brain stuck trying to solve it.
Nathaniel, thanks for playing! I found this great typewriter soundpack on Freesound.org and decided to base the game's whole soundscape around it. Originally, I designed the game to be how you imagined it to be, where each number can only be used once. That was way too hard, so I decided to allow numbers to be re-used and wrote a more gentle solver / puzzle generator. Then when I came up with the modifiers, I realized I could use my original solver again for players who wanted a challenge. Always interesting what players can see no matter how I tried to obscure it.
Nice game! It's very well polished!
I would've preferred the first few levels to be a bit easier, it take some time to get into the right mindset to play the game.
Thanks for playing, plasol!
