How does your game fit the theme?
John Time is a man who controls time, he must descend through the layers of hell to escape on a strict timer, if he doesnt make it hes done for. Using abilities eats at your overall time left. During some of his plight through the hells, he can have forced time sections where he has to plan as a never ending countdown until the next pause happens where he must prep his next action.

The artstyle is one of my favs from this jam, the parkour feels nice. I got stuck in that blue ring on top of a monster and had to restart but everything other than that went absolutely smoothely. the voice over was perfect.

Developer

Hah, sounds like it went smoother for you than for us in our playtests - the joy! So glad you enjoyed, thanks so much for the kind comment too!

Fun game, I wish I was even slightly as cool as John Time! What I played was fun, though I got confused by how the skills work, I was able to place a green orb but I didnt really know what it was supposed to do and the text was a bit hard to read when it was introduced, it'd be nice to have the skills be introduced in a safe environment to learn first, as it introduced both time stop, skills, a monster chasing you and you had spikes next to you at the same time. Dying here meant having to go through the floor falling again as well. I think with a proper tutorial or safe sections when learning new things it'd be a bit better for new players.

Thanks so much for playing, and for the feedback! We'll definitely make some QoL changes and overall polish when we haven't got a timer over our heads - quite a few things definitely suffered from the deadline. Glad you still managed to have some fun, jank notwithstanding!

This is a pretty cool concept. I did end up dying a lot and I had to replay the whole levels a lot lol. John time is a fun name too. Pretty neat!

Developer

Thanks for suffering through that - the level balancing was pretty off given how rushed they ended up being, and adding a checkpoint system is pretty high on my list of things to do. Thanks so much for playing though!

I did not expect a fast paced movement game based on the visuals and screenshots, but I was happily surprised to find out that's what it was! and movement felt clean with great visuals and this would be an awesome game to see expanded on post jam

Developer

Yeah, thinking about it we could have advertised that a little better! XD So happy you liked, and I at least am hyped to keep working on this one post-jam just to see where it ends up!

Pretty interesting concept of wanting to go as fast as possible. The timestop and use skill mechianic is very intuitive and fun. Feels like the limitations came from the level design and the lack of freedom it gives to move around the level

Developer(+1)

Yeah, we definitely felt that time limit more in level design than anywhere else - turns out, the thought required to be put into making something that feels great to play is really quite a lot more than we’d thought. If we had our time again I’m sure we’d have been doing levels from day 2, though I’m sure we’ll polish stuff after the jam’s done. Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback!

The browser version was running a bit too slow so I ended up downloading it. I love the idea,  a parkour game (I love parkour games) with a twist that you stop can time at specific points and select an ability to perform. It does scratch the itch of wanting to be complete each level as fast as possible, so great job! The art style is very stylish but I did sometimes have difficulty judging whether the ground below was spikes or floor. The mouse sensitivity also resets on every level retry.

Developer(+1)

Yup - noticed the mouse sensitivity bug with about 5 minutes left before the deadline, and didn’t have the time to rebuild it. Will be fixed by next build though! Also I’m so glad it managed to scratch that itch even a little bit, hopefully we can make some more levels that can fully exploit the mechanics in the future. Thanks so much for playing!!

Love this game, though it can be frustrating when it lags. The words in the tutorial can be quite hard to read, and the level can be quite confusing to navigate. Nonetheless, I had fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for managing to have fun despite the level design, we definitely suffered from the time limit more there than anywhere else. The tutorials were definitely thrown together much more roughly than we would have wanted, hopefully we can have more natural introductions further on in development.

Its a very good game i liked playing it. Its a bit laggy though. But very enjoyable!

Developer

Aah, web build I assume? We found it to be pretty unstable and didn’t really have the time to properly optimise and make sure everything worked, which is definitely a shame, but hopefully post-jam patches will fix that up. Glad you enjoyed though, and thanks for playing!

This is a really cool concept! I feel like its so so close to being excellent, but sometimes the tutorials were hard to understand and the environments were too dark to navigate. I think if you had extra time to smooth over the tutorials/visuals this would be an absolute banger. Well done.

Developer

Thank you! I’m glad that despite the few hang ups you were able to still see the overall vision of what we were aiming for! I think one more day could’ve definitely helped here 😅

The ambiance in this game goes crazy - very nostalgic feel and movement felt really fluid. Nice job!

Developer

So glad you enjoyed and liked the feel of it!

Submitted

holy hell it's John Time with his iconic dash ability!

The movement was fluid and I liked the visuals.

Developer

Everyone's favourite character. A household name.

Glad you liked it, thanks for stopping by!

I love the aesthetic and especially the intro sequence! The thing chasing you is terrifying from afar with the way the game is rendered!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing, and glad you liked it!
