best name for a game I've seen so far in this jam

Woah that is high praise! Thanks

Couldn't really tell what rhythm to follow at first but once I got the hang of it the back and forth was super fun, I love the artstyle of the intro especially, reminded me of mary blair , upa & scott wills.

Great game, I absolutely love the idea of rythm based combat!

The music and sound effects were phenomenal, though the main menu undersold the game a bit without any sound.

The gameplay felt easy to learn, but was hard to master and really engaging. I loved how you have to learn the hits along with the song to beat The Count. Some of the hits felt a bit arbitrary in timing, but overall it was really fun! This is one of the best and most to my taste game jam games I've played so far.

Good job on making such a fun game!

Congratulations, guys! The idea is fantastic and very well executed. I personally love both rhythm games and parry mechanics, so this was right up my alley.

At first, I had a bit of trouble recognizing the rhythmic pattern between the gameplay and the music, but once it clicked, it became really fun to play!

If I had one suggestion, it would be to make the parry timing window slightly more forgiving for first-time or casual players. That said, since this was made for a game jam, it's a very minor point.

The art style and sound design were both excellent. Great job, everyone!

Fun rhythm game (I made one too!) I like the crit damage if you're on the beat. Also the parry on beat was nice; the boss telegraphing his attack made it easier to time. The music was a good choice for the Count Dracula theme you had going. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you thank you! Our composer really cooked with the music.

I never really got in the flow unfortunately (I'm not sure how the music, countdown, and enemy attacks sync?) but the presentation was very nice and your key art is gorgeous, congratulations :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! So the enemy attacks in sync with the countdown and the countdown is in sync with the beat. Triggering your attack in time with the countdown scores a crit too. I definitely could have visualized this better (my bad!)

It's a good game, good animations and combat. It needs a bit of polish to shine. Super attack is weak and not worth it (or I'm doing something wrong :D), I always get hit after it. The beat can be signald a bit more, I kind of now what beat to watch out for but the connection with the music could be better.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah the super could me more rewarding than it currently is. The sync with the music needed a bit more polish with the animations as well. All valid points of feedback!

The art direction of the game is so cool! And the atmosphere too, and i love when rhythm aspect is incorporated to different genres!

Even i tried doing something rhythm based with the countdown

The art and sound design of this were great! Its always nice to see another rhythm game submission. The intro was very cool as well. One thing I would add is a stronger indication of the pulse, since it was sometimes hard to tell when things were going to happen. But overall solid job!

Great concept!

Game looks and sounds great (I love love LOVE the little comic at the start), though it feels like a bit of a missed oversight that the count himself doesn't really have any sound effects for his attacks.

The gameplay feels a little underdeveloped, I gotta say. You have a super meter, but the super takes kind of a while to come out and parrying doesn't seem to guarantee you'll have enough time to do it. Some of the count's animations also feel a little bit muddy, there's an attack where he hits on beats 2 and 4 which looks really similar to an attack where he hits on beat 3. I also saw a fourth, long attack with a bunch of feints, but he only did it one singular time in all my attempts.

My strategy kind of devolved into spamming left click, looking to parry the slow attacks while hoping I could get supers in after, and just tanking the first hit of the quick attack pattern before parrying the second, which feels a little bit off.

By the way, what does the white countdown on screen actually indicate?

Hey, thanks for your feedback, as you know the deadline was crazy short; So a lots of idea couldn't be in this version.

We are finishing the game anyway for Windows and Mac. Also WebGL version is limited and doesn't let FMOD/Wwise do it's magic with adaptive audio.

The timer shows how many bar🎶 have been played and with the torches it helps you being in rythm. Hitting in rythm make critical hits💥.
The Count does have sound-effect for his attack, just the woosh are missing and his voice when he get damaged. A drain attack from him was planned too. We'll let you know when the game is finished if you are interested))

Best regards, and thanks for playing!
