For a bomb, there wasnt much need to explode. As another comment said, it was only really needed where the text said, apart from the last level but that was just one time

The art style is very cute, and Bombert has alot of personality. I really enjoyed exploring the levels and figuring out the puzzle routes, though level-design wise some parts can be shorter / it seems some paths are redundant, so I can't be sure I'm on the "correct" one or trying hard for no reason.

i love the design of bombert he looks so terrified of his fate, and the artstyle itself sorta reminds me of certain childern's books  that might be very specific to my childhood

i like the idea of the fuse, but i feel like the design around it could be a bit better, it might be the numbers or the level design but i almost never exploded not on command

i liked the animation of bombert but it needs to switch to different one while in the air, since the jumping animation messes up the vertical hight a bit, plus the sounds of jumping still trigger while walking in the air

still, good job on the game!

great audio, nice mechanic

Going through spikes and exploding couple of time is what feel like going through each day irl :))

Cute art, but level design seems to be too wide to plan any routes.

Since you have to start from the beginning after explosion, smaller level & shorter fuse would help to improve replayability I think.

It definitely has potential. Good work!

Good note. totally agree.

Great entry! I really liked the dilemma of going for it with this life, or using my explosion in the correct spot to make my next try easier! :D

The movement is a little clunky, but the game is enjoyable. Good game design and i like the arstyle :)

I really like the artstyle. I also like the simple but engaging gameplay. Good job!

The level design was fantastic! Having a chance to test the mechanics before the game actually starts was a brilliant idea, it made everything feel much more intuitive. I also loved the art style, it's incredibly cute and full of personality. You did an amazing job. Great work! 😊

Cool game, I know you were leaning toward a puzzle game, however, I think that if the spikes dealt a little more damage it would be better, because most of the times I would land on them and then immediatly jump off without any real consequence, but other than that, the music is pretty good, and I like the artstyle and the way bombert walks ( which is more of a jump ). Great job!

The artwork and sound design were great, but I think the mechanics could have gone a lot further. I think I only had to use the blow up ability 3x over the course of the game.

The exploration was quite fun, but do consider making the spikes take out a lot more of the player's fuse, as I found myself using the spikes as a slightly more convenient route in some situations

The player doing little hops even during a jump is very jarring and makes it harder to tell where the player actually is, although the player is very cute. Not having air control(? if that's even what was going on there) was also jarring but I liked the concepts at play in the platforming, even if it sometimes teetered into being tedious. The way the level design is expanded on over time is pretty cool too

Developer

thanks for playing!! yeah the jump is a common note we've been getting, i get it for sure. glad you enjoyed the level design and our player!

That was pretty fun, having to walk back to where you exploded after pressing e can be a little tedious though

Developer

thanks for playing! I can definitely see that yeah, I'm glad you had fun!

It gets there even though it's rough around the edges. Had fun looking for the ways out. Nice level designs!

Developer

thank you!!

I like the concept, but I feel like the main mechanic of blowing yourself up is severely underutilized, especially compared to the spikes. However, I did like the layout of the levels, where a little bit of exploration is required before you can just make it to the end.

If there was more use of the exploding mechanic, I think the game could be better, but either way I had a good time playing! Nicely done

thanks so much! glad you had a good time, I can see what you mean for sure, appreciate the detailed comment ty!

Love all of the art! As a developer that put hardly any effort into our itch.io page, it's awesome seeing the unique splash art you have on the sides w/ Bombert's face.

Gameplay is cool too. I appreciate the tutorial text helping guide me at the beginning and catching me up to speed. The bomb physics for the stones is also great; very punchy.

My only critique (and perhaps this was one of those last-minute bugs which I completely understand) is that the repeating jump/walk sound clips and cuts out whenever you're moving and jumping simultaneously. It's just a touch jarring and makes my brain interpret the jump out-of-sync.

That said, super cute! And a wonderful addition to the jam. Congrats on putting together a finished project like this ^^ it's very inspiring.

ahh thank you!! really appreciate it, I loved illustrating Bombert c: yes the jump/walk sound was definitely a last minute bug we just didn't have time to fix unfortunately. thank you so much for such a kind and detailed comment!
