I love the artwork and ambiance that the visuals and music provide! It's very dark and brooding. The balance as the game progresses is not that smooth, towards the end it's much less fun as there's a positive feedback loop towards losing (the more you get caught the harder it is to survive, which in turn means you lose more fingers). It's also really slow at the beginning. The combinations of powers are interesting, although with the way it's set up, you can kinda pick any power and it works.

Keep it coming!

I think some of the difficulty scaling is a little off (which is really tough to do in a jam game, anyway), but otherwise a fantastic entry! I really, really loved the main menu UI animation.

Great take on the theme, the action is simple but fun, while the adjacency buffs add a little bit of strategy to make the game even more interesting! The visuals are really creepy, well done!

What a creative and unique art style, add a little bit of screen shake when you hit an enemy and everything about the gameplay will feel much more impactful !!!

Overall, a great game i can surely say i loved it !!

Super cool! Unique concept and style and really like strategy based on ring placement. Definitely has room to be expanded upon.

such a creative game! the use of hands as lives is great, and the game was really balanced! it's really polished as well, nice job!

Love the hand theme and how much you did with it. Like the menu is also a hand. The enemies remind me of a certain area in Elden Ring.

I really liked the game, I really like the way i need to think about switching rings and making strategies!

I really love the visuals. I didn't expect to get my fingers cut off, but alas, at least I didn't lose any of my precious stolen rings. Great job!

Really cool game, this deserves way more attention. best game i have played in the jam so far. Very polished!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind comment! We put a lot of effort into it <3

I feel this game should get way more ratings than what it is right now. This is extremely polished and fun to play. It also gets very challenging after a bit and the powerups helps you good. Very good entry!

Developer

Thank you!! We tried our best to make each spell unique with the short time we had!

Lots of awesome stuff here.

  • Visuals - incredible
  • Music & SFX - great
  • Everything is very cohesive.
  • Fits the "countdown" theme very well
  • I would have liked to be able to pause
  • Bouncing off the walls is cool
  • I wasn't sure if I could put two rings on the same finger. Then I saw two rings on the same finger in the reward selection! But when I tried I replaced my best ring :(
  • Rings offered at different levels encourage the player to try new weapons. Very cool
  • Because I can't see my hands during the loot selection, I'd like an option to choose "no rings" during equip phase. This game is pretty metal though, I could give that up as a design decision and just remember.
  • I have no idea what "at least you got some power" means when you lose a finger. Are my abilities permanently stronger?
  • Tether ring having no levels made me think it was unique. In practice it just felt like any other ring but I couldn't tell what level it was, so I didn't want to keep it.
  • In the lategame when your ring slots are full... I'm kind of left without a goal. Am I ascending floors? What's the wincon? There's nothing to tell me how far I am in a macro sense. Then you lose a finger and know it's all downhill from there. I need the rush of "I can make it, I just need to hold on one more level" or something.

This was one of my favourite games I've played. Very polished, and again very cohesive! You prioritized the experience and all elements (visuals, sound, gameplay, etc.) told the same story.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We really appreciate the depth you put into it. We had a lot of fun developing this game and creating something unique that we’d want to play ourselves. We’re planning to keep working on it and add everything you mentioned, there’s also a boss fight coming soon! Thanks again for the review, it was genuinely useful for us, and we’re glad you enjoyed the game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so so much!! We loved the detailed comment! I agree it's not very clear that you can have 2 rings on the same finger, given that the reward selection allows for it. Some decisions were a bit rushed haha.
We did want to pause, but changing the time scale could get buggy and we ended up not having time for another approach, but we will for sure add this at some point!
For now we kinda kept that you *have* to equip the rings you get so you are forced to rotate and dont opt in into a 1 finger build with a super powerful spell, that was kinda of the idea.
"At least you got some power" - you get 10% more damage per finger cut, this isn't clear at all, its our fault, we might add it to the description of the page for now!

Sadly for now there is no end goal apart from just enduring for as many seconds as you can, we to intend on making it more rogueliky in the future!

Thanks a lot for you comments again! <3

Wasn’t sure at first but it grew on me. I played for about 15 minutes and got as far as a 52 second countdown before losing my last two fingers.

My only suggestion would be to add a round/level number so I can see how far I’ve got more easily than remembering what the countdown said at the start.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game and giving it a chance! We’re glad you enjoyed it, and we’re definitely thinking about adding something that works as a progression meter instead of just relying on the clock.

A fellow finger fella i see

Super cool game, really liked the ring mechanic (though i was under the assumption i could wear two on one finger due to the light spot on the tip) and I got some decent progress with the rings I could scrap together. I was a little confused what the "at least you got some power" text meant, was it a stat buff or just flavor text ?

Also a fan of the controls, made dodging and weaving super clean. Great entry !

Love how strong your sense of aesthetics was for this jam entry! The design of the enemies especially was suuuper cool.

I found the flashing/strobing during the ring selection screen to be a bit much, and would have loved a setting to disable that if you get around to updating the game post-jam!

My winning strategy was to spam tons of cage spells, minions, and boomerangs so I could hit lots of enemies at once. I wish I’d known about the boost rings earlier so I could plan around them (though as soon as I started losing fingers I was in a pretty fast death spiral LOL).

Developer(+2)

Hi! I'm glad you loved the aesthetics! We tried really hard to make it look awesome! We really like the enemies too, we got a some new ones cooking.

I'm sorry for the flashing image, its not inteded, it's a bug sadly :( we think it only happens in the web version, and only on specific computers, but we'll get around to fix!

Yeah when you start losing fingers the rest go away pretty fast, my current favorite strategy is multicast ring + minion ring and it just eats up through the whole thing!

If you have any feedback or ring ideas you'd like to share we'd love them, we want to take this game further!

Might be a web bug game, sometimes browsers can't load, we have a downloadable version if you'd like to try it :)

Incredibly Underrated! I have no complaints On this Game 5/5

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it as much as we do!

Good gameplay loop. Really inventive way to get graphics without an artist! :)

Developer(+2)

Thank you! We do have an artist that spent hours editing the images of the hands and taking pictures 😭 but most of the animations were through code so I can totally see where you're coming from!

Try finger, but hole
