Cool game!

Hahahahahaha this was a lot of fun. Admittedly I am biased when it comes to games about rushing a game jam which heavily includes hands on the screen, staring at a computer screen, making music and has a literal computer mouse. But that doesn't affect my opinion on this game here, this was really nice!.

Excellent take on the theme, the dancing animations on the ending screen is really dumb and funny,  the game in general is really dumb and funny. The game also makes ME feel dumb and funny, because good god I cannot catch more than like 6 Big Weeds. There's not much to the gameplay but the art, and how much it shines through that you guys loved making it, makes up for it.

The music is great, we love original music. The art is lovely. Posting source code and providing a download is peak EOL. Unique settings menu music? Holy shit, that's above and beyond.

The comment below me mentioned the cigarette crossing the I in HI, but I wanna shout out the C clef and the three-grouped sixteenth note in SCORE. It wasn't until writing this comment that I realized that you guys have the drug stuff in the word HI and the music stuff in the music word. If anything I've played so far deserves #1 art this jam, this is it. Excellent stuff!

Hi! The artist here! Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot. We loved your game, we were dying of laughter! Seriously it was such a blast.

It is really funny how many similarities our games have once you think about it Haha! And I'm so happy we went with a pun our programmer TrashcatOrange suggested, it was so much fun to draw all of these and thinking of the dumbest visual jokes I could.

You are the first person to appreciate the musical details in the logo, thank you! Luckily we have several people who are great at music (not me) So they helped me figure out what I could use for the letters!

The pun is genuinely clever. "High score" as in the leaderboard and as in getting high to finish the score. It took me a couple of seconds to land and then I really appreciated it.

The title screen is well made, a PC monitor with the logo on the screen and a cigarette crossing the I in HI, with post-its stuck around the frame. Proper scene building. The menu having Start, Credits and three separate volume sliders for Music, Voice and SFX is more than most jam entries manage, and having a Voice slider at all signals there's actual voice acting in here, which is rare. The two pixel art anthropomorphic characters in gaming chairs with the keyboard and mic on the desk are funny and well drawn. And the opening dialogue is exactly the tone the page promises.

Also, your end of life plan is one of the most thorough I've read in this jam. Browser build plus a Windows download plus source on GitHub so anyone can update it if it stops working on modern systems. That's the actual answer to the question.

Three notes. The "Start the Game" button didn't respond to my first clicks, it only worked after insisting, which is a pattern I've hit across a lot of entries here. The dialogue advances one bubble per click with no "click to continue" indicator, so you're never sure whether it's frozen or waiting. And I didn't reach the actual playable part in the time I gave it, the intro runs long, so a skip intro option would help people who are voting through a lot of entries.

Very much appreciate your detailed review! Thank you very much for your time spent!

Was not aware of the start button issue, we never encountered it ourselves in our testing, it might be something wonky with the webplayer in general on some systems, if it's a persistent issue across multiple games. From what I seen and developed before browsers can be very finicky sometimes with games sadly.

I agree we should have added the "press any button" prompt under the dialog looking back, as well as skip the intro button.

Hope that you might have time in the future to play it more, but again your time is very appreciated and I understand you want to see what this Jam has to offer

NO WAY I DIDNT THINK OF THIS THEME INTERPRETATION 😭

Very very original and silly, really fun lmao. Graphics and sound were greatly done, with great taste (comic sans used!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

i also liked the pink wolf a lot, he gave the vibes xD

Developer(+1)

Lol, really happy we went with Orange's idea, it was a lot of fun to make!

Nothing seemed more appropriate then comic sans for this XD To be honest I'm surprised it's still recognazable after being pixalated so heavily

Pink is a pretty bodacious dude ;3

Oh MY! This game is a great laugh! Great call on the narrators!

Developer(+1)

It was a lot of fun doing them, especially improvising the dropping the paper lines

Submitted(+1)

That was funny, thank you for that. Voice acting really adds to the experience. Visually looks really good too.

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate that a lot

The sound design is really funny, and I thought the idea was very interesting I think the physics and the gameplay could be improved to make the game feel even better.

Submitted(+1)

The intro was funny. Gameplay wise it's hard not to drop anything.

This game was a lot of fun! I like the art style and voice acting! A precision based game is a unique idea for a high score game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Our programmer Orange came up with the idea, I was afraid to touch physiques for the gamejam lol
