How does your game fit the theme?
The idea for the game was a tactics resource management game, in which each unit has a battery that is always counting down. You have to be mindful of your battery and use counting down to your advantage to stay alive.

(Optional) What would you like to be called if GMTK features your game?
skibbl_ and snoozecity (Brothers, snoozecity did most of the playtesting and art) (skibbl_ did the programming)

Very cute paper hand-drawn style ! Levels  are not too hard or too easy, I liked the balancing. Battery management is very creative too. Great job !

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the balancing

Super nice idea with the artwork being hand drawn, loved it. Game felt a little confusing, had to go back to the tutorial a couple of times to even understand what I was supposed to really do haha. Felt a bit too spammy with the enemies too, found it super hard to manage them. Overall, it's fairly fun, but in my opinion (this might be just a skill issue :p), it needed a bit of balancing haha.

Developer

Thanks! I’m glad it looked really good. For the tutorial & the balancing, it’s one of those things where you kinda just accept it’s a jam & you don’t have to much time to work on them haha. they would both need a good bit of work for a full release

I LOVE the hand-drawn assets. Way more games should do that. This was a fantastic game and you all should be proud

Developer

Appreciate it!! 🙏

Great job, the UI and the paper enemis style look great.

I feel it would make more sense for the dead robots to not block shots, but maybe that  was the idea

I’m glad you like the style! We did it on purpose because we wanted you to be intentional with the placements of the robots.

First of all, props for the paper art style  Love it  The explanation felt a bit weird but the game felt like Plants V Zombies to me  i couldn’t understand why my spawns looked semi dead permanently after moving  but it has its moments

Developer

The semi dead represents that they've been used for that turn. I'm glad you like the art!

Colorswise this is just gorgeous, same with the paper artstyle which is done very tastefully, absolutely a joy to just take in the vibes. Gameplay wise I wish the tutorial was a bit more interactive, having a bunch of information thrown at you through a text tutorial when I didn't even really understand the premise of the game meant that a lot of the information personally flew over my head, since I wasn't sure the context of it. Having it through the first level might've been better, sorta like how bloons td 6 starts. Cool concept and I like the blending of genres going on!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The art was super fun to do (It actually was drawn on paper, and I think its a very fun style I would like to use more)

As for the tutorial, we definitely would've preferred something throughout the levels, but it's definitely hard with the time crunch of a jam.

The artstyle is perfect, translated very well into digital. I like how you show each robot's abilities when you spawn them, good thinking for a game jam where people move quickly from game to game.

Developer(+1)

I’m glad it felt so intuitive to play!

Really love the art style on this! The only improvement on that front I can think of is that the font felt slightly out of place; a more hand-drawn-feeling typeface might help make things more cohesive. Some sound effects would also go a long way.

The game was a lot of fun too, though I think levels lasted maybe a little too long, to the point where they started to feel tedious. I made it through the first level, but didn’t quite finish the second, and since each level took so long I didn’t want to go through all those turns again. I had a good time with what I played, though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! If we work on the game more, we’ll be sure to take this in to account

Love the art! Probably the best art i've seen so far

Developer

Thanks so much! We were really unsure at first, but we're super happy with the results

As a fan of tower defense games, I have to express my appreciation! Although it’s not exactly tower defense, it’s very similar.

Developer

Definitely a lot of tower defense inspiration!

Very unique concept. With some more polishing, this could definitely turn into a great turn based tower defense.

I kinda miss some sfx or audio.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! and yeah, we didn't end up having time for audio
