Great narrative framing, really enjoyed the writing. The transition from static puzzle game to gun golf was an… interesting juxtaposition. I think Gun Golf could be a good mini-game on it’s own if you had more control over the gun itself, but then maybe wouldn’t fit the narrative quite so well.

I like the story and the narration a lot, really worked well and had me hooked through the entire thing. I will say that I found the first two gameplay segments a bit confusing, and the third was mildly infuriating because my mouse kepts moving ever so slightly and completely throwing off my aim. I believe the deadzones could be set a bit better with the gun aiming. Still enjoyable, I had a nice time with it!
I like how the entrepreneurs story is one of repeated attempts, failures, and eventual success!.. Only to be met with dismay. I found some of the minigames fun, but I had difficulty aiming when making small adjustments. Slowly moving my mouse to the right would cause the camera to drift a little to the left, not sure if that's an issue on my side but regardless, still a fun experience!
Loved the narration, immaculate humerous walking simulator vibes a la Stanley Parable. The whole game feels like an allegory for coming up with a game idea for a game jam, haha. Overall I enjoyed it.
I did get confused at both of the first two levels though: I had to read the description to understand you need to go back to proceed at the first level, and I walked straight into the scoring area for the 2nd level (but refreshes so I can attempt the puzzle).
I really liked the idea of the last room with the gun on the countdown but unfortunately it lagged and stuttered quite a bit! Also I guess I have a strong expectation that hitting "shift" will make me move faster because I was surprised to crouch several times lol! I appreciated the extensive settings menu available, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust it mid-game when I had a better sense for how the mouse moved, etc. Unique take on the theme!
This was definitely a unique experience, much much different from what I was expecting going into it. The narrative of it is lovely - And so is the narration!
It did give me Stanley vibes to an extent but not fully.
I also loved how each level fit the narrative of the entrepreneur's thinking - which get's wild by the 3rd and I love it. It is an unhinged narrative that fits the game's style quite nicely. And the simple art/models fit that as well.
As for the levels themselves, without the hint I would have never known to turn back for the first level. I thought I was doing something wrong - taking a look at the description made it known that I needed to head back.
The 2nd level I also did not know what to do at all so I just looked around and left - I thought I'd be able to throw darts(was not). I also do not know what the board actually meant because of it. But it might be that I just missed something important.
The 3rd level was much fun, though the gun controls were a bit drifty, they were fun. The golf was fun and each of the table was really well designed. It was definitely difficult to score, but I did get 1 golf ball in so I was happy with that. Maybe the gun controls could have been better and the reset board thing could have been conveyed better to the player?
the ending of 3rd level was great - it was humorous but thoughtful as well. And the poem in the epilogue was also written well - really encapturing an idiot entrepreneur. (one more thing, the game taught me how to bloody write the word Entrepreneur. thanks!)
overall this was fun, really great submission for the jam and I enjoyed it. Awesome work!
Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback! It does tell me I need to explain things better, but I’m glad you made it through to the end and didn’t give up on it after having had the two first rooms be rather confusing.
You are right, that it’s Stanley adjacent, personally I’d probably cluster it closer to “The Beginner’s Guide” as the irony isn’t directed at the player as much as towards the subject of the game “The Entrepreneur.”
The aim of the second room was quite obscure (as the narration hinted) but you were meant to count various things from the different sports and order them as decreasing numbers so for example “22 Football Players” would have been one of the lines. But honestly in the current version of the game the purpose is almost your experience. Go in look around, be a bit confused and leave and feel like “yeah there’s a reason that venture didn’t do too well.”
I’ve fixed the drift bug for a post jam build and will work on the ball physics and better signalling of “R” reset too. My initial idea was to only show that when it is relevant and a bit more prominent in the UI.
Again, thank you so much for the great feedback!
Haha fun game, I liked the end poem, it has a stubborn entrepreneurial vibe! I liked how in the guns level the walking speed increased showing excitement of the visitor probably :D
I found a minor bug in the first room though. If i press the button again (before it reaches 55 ig) after the countdown from 60 starts, it stops and gets stuck, and I found no way to resume it
I really enjoyed how weird and unpredictable the game felt. the narrator gave me strong Stanley Parable vibes and kept me curious about where the entrepreneur story was going and all the little comments made exploring feel more fun, and a few of them genuinely caught me off guard. the sports counting room was probably my favorite even though I was very confident and still got a bunch of answers wrong. I liked how it slowly pulled me into taking the task way more seriously than I expected. There was a nice mix of comedy and mystery too so I stayed interested in seeing how everything would end.
Gun golf was such a creative idea and the music fit it really well but aiming gave me some trouble since my mouse kept drifting during small movements. It made a few shots feel harder than they probably was meant to be. A little more guidance in the counting room could help too because I nearly walked into scoring before I was ready and I wasnt fully sure what counted for some categories. Still really impressive for only four days there is so much personality here and I would gladly play more of it. Really good job it were a fun experience and I had way more fun than I expected.
Thank you for the thorough comment! I should have, I will treat the sports counting a bit more serious and make sure the user gets enough tools and guidance to actually complete the puzzle. I thought it was a silly idea, and fun to make, but not that engaging to the players. It honestly could also have been better humor if the narrator insists it is a failed and too complicated puzzle and it is a banger for those that like a little challenge. I’ll also make a big “Get your results” arrow so no-one accidentally steps into the solution area.
The unintentional difficulty in the gungolf is really annoying :( And that bug I caused to the aiming. It was really hard making it easy enough but I have some ideas I’ll look into after the jam.
A very novel concept for sure. I really liked where this one was going and would have loved to have seen more.
The thing with the gun aiming was pretty amusing, where the fine adjustments were moved all over the place (assuming it was intentional - if not, it seems like a fun idea to add)
The narration was excellent, and like a previous comment mentioned, gives me some Stanley Parable vibes. I'd love to see where the Entrepreneur's story goes next!
That reminded me of The Stanley Parable, almost.
It was a decent comedy game, and quite impressive to complete in a jam time limit.
Also, your voice sounds good as the narrator, no need for the self-deprecating comment in the description.
:)
I found the mouse sensitivity too high; accidentally turning 360 degrees when I wanted to turn 180 degrees occurred several times for me.
I'm also not sure if the games were meant to actually be playable?
Some comments suggest that they had fun counting the stuff in the second room; but my clipboard was mostly obscured.
I counted only "darts", "balls", and "football" (players, I assumed).
Then, I got scored, and saw all the other categories, and I thought it was a joke about how badly the entrepreneur had set things up for the customers.
Same with the gun golf - I found it pretty impossible to play, and I thought it was a joke again.
Were they jokes, or was I having a unlucky day?
I noticed a decent amount of lag between levels loading, so maybe bugs?
Thank you for the voice appraisal! <3 <3
I should probably have made it clear that you can adjust mouse sensitivity in the settings. You can even play the game with keyboard only (though aiming the gun probably gets a bit hard).
I really wanted the gun golf to be fully playable. But I had introduced that stupid bug with push back/drift on fine motions and struggled to get the ball bouncing feel good so even though I spend considerable time tuning it, it remains much to hard. I’m gonna try to fix that after the jam though.
The sports counting was a bit of a meme, but people seems to like the puzzle so I’ll try to do the sports counting justice and make it more intuitive. I’m not sure what you mean by the scoreboard being obscured though. That does sound like an unexpected bug. You are given some initial hinting info, but you can fill out all rows.
First button room definitely isn’t meant to succeed in.
Unfortunately the web build is single threaded so even though there is a loading screen while each room loads it doesn’t really help the experience, I think.
I was super engaged with this one, once I understood what the second room was asking of me that became the highlight of my playthrough. I became really invested in getting those answers correct, but unfortunately my lack of experience with darts threw off my whole board, I had no idea a space was called a field. Still had a lot of fun with it though! I enjoyed the voice acting and narrative as well, it was clever and made me want to play through to the end to see what would happen.
Unfortunately I did experience the mouse drift bug as well, which made the final room essentially unplayable. I'm using a mouse and keyboard, and the drift occurred whether or not I had a controller plugged into my PC. It always seems to drift left for me on small movements.
Aside from that bug though, this game is really polished and has a lot of the nice-to-have features that tend to get left behind in a jam for the sake of time. Subtitles, control rebinding, volume options, and so on. Very well done overall!
Thank you for the great feedback! I really didn’t think the sports counting would get people hooked. It must really have been a bummer then to not get perfect score, or even bad one. I’m gonna totally revise that scoring and UI to guide the player about having done stuff right!
I’m very glad I had worked on my other project to have reusable settings so I actually didn’t need to spend much time at all just dropping all that QoL stuff in.
Sadly this game is not easily playable on a laptop with a trackpad but I worked my way through some of it. I found the movement a little janky but that could well be to do with my hardware and not the game. Also a small nitpick but the subtitles did not match the audio in some small ways.
Well done on getting this done for the jam, sorry I wasn't able to more fully experience it.
I very much enjoyed this game. The “Stanley parable”-like is amazing and I liked the little touches when his comments are triggered by looking at something. The sports room has a really great concept of a puzzle. I tried to fill the whole sheet but did not match the results that were required mainly because I was counting something else. My result for future improvement of guiding the player is in the spoiler: https://img.itch.zone/aW1nLzI4ODg0NDM5LnBuZw==/original/4dLRg0.png (changed to link so it is not visible immediately in the comments section). As mentioned in other comments, fine movements resulted in shift of the aim to the top left, both in Firefox and in Chromium based browser. Seems like a Godot bug but I did not find discussions about that. Great job!
Bugs with controls in full screen exclusively, Nice narration and cool idea i see alot of potential with it being a comedy style game, and the immersion was there. Thing is when playing, i didn't know if some things where features or a bug, having the narrator help you more along the way can help
It’s a good game, despite some issues with the buttons—such as the volume-up button triggering a skip function. However, the voice actor is excellent.
