This was awesome. I loved the challenge of holding your breath versus trying to find out more. I was expecting to figure out a way to fix everything, but having to come to terms with it instead is deeply more interesting. The audio design is uncomfortable in the best way possible. I would have liked to have had a little more agency before things reached the end, but it will always have been for naught. Great narrative game, a unique experience for jams.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad the "coming to terms" narrative came off well. I agree with the lack of agency, so I just released and update adding more system interactions / puzzle mechanics!
I like the challenge of having to control ui dialogues at the same time as controlling your breathing, and the narrative is really intriguing like what are the anomalies and what was john talking about, also touching story about acceptance and like coming to terms with the decisions you made in life.
I liked the overall atmosphere of the game and breathing mechanic felt weighty and meaningful.
I loved the atmosphere in this game, it's so haunting. The mechanic is really unique too, you kinda fall into a strategy of breathing, then interacting with the interface while you exhale. The narrative is interesting too - while it's not the main focus, whatever is implied to have happened to the ship and its crew seems to be some sort of cosmic horror which I am always down for. If this game ever got expanded a bit, I would love to see maybe a more in depth user interface with a basic GUI and some more involved apps that you have to navigate through. Good job!
Thanks! If I end up doing a full release, I defiantly plan to have a full "virtual os / gui" to interact with. I just updated the game to have actual puzzle elements that give the player something to solve in addition to the existing narrative.
having to hold your breath and manage oxygen while juggling the dialogue creates insane tension. the sound design and bleak atmosphere give such cool undertale despair vibes, and "you did not find peace" as a game over message is terrifyingly beautiful. easily one of the most unique narrative games in this jam!
A very unique game. The story hooked me in from the beginning and wasn't tedious. Very immersive. Sound design was a great choice. Good job!
Well well well. I must say this game is like a breath of fresh air (pun intended). The first story-driven game I encountered so far. Nice artwork, and the audio complements the game perfectly. Also a certain ending (despair) reminded of Undertale. Maybe it was the music and the text, but it was pretty cool. Did not expect that. Amazing work!
Excellent work! Very creative storytelling intertwined with the countdown mechanic, which is itself a very engaging thing, despite being a single button press. Cool game!
the mechanic and story gripped me immediately, honestly wish this was one small part of a much larger story and game, having to wait for my breath to progress dialogue felt so tense! would love to see this expanded on into a bigger project
super cool game. love the breathing mechanic, its very neat. the graphics are simple yet pretty, and the sound design is very good.
overall awesome work!!
Never thought I would see such an amazing narrative in a game jam game, stunning.
i like the mechanic of needing to redirect your attention between breathing and navigating the menus. the song that plays when you die is good too
horrifyng and bleak,
the core hold breath mechanic whilst not being able to read at the same time really does add to the storytelling
This was a trip, "You did not find peace" as a "you lose" message is beautiful and horrifying. Hope we all find peace.
