How does your game fit the theme?
Beast o'Clock is built around a hard visible countdown that forces you to switch forms every ~10 seconds. As a human, you race the clock to escape, trying not to raise suspicion. When it hits zero you become a beast who must kill before the next countdown.

I like the pressure that the countdown of the game creates. It builds tension and atmosphere really well.

Thank you!

Great concept. You don't want to get convert while anyone is watching, but as a beast you do need to get close to them to kill, this creates an interesting gameplay

Loved the concept.

Developer

Exactly! Two very different approaches are simultaneously necessary when playing the game. A balance of both might be the best strategy, but you can lean in to either side and still do well. Glad you enjoyed it

I hope you like it!

Ok the game is great and fun but there something about this game that I think you should add tutorial because it's took me about 15minutes to understand what going on and the game mechanic and the good things is I love the style and your creative mechanic it's seem impressive for a game made in 4 days or under. You are very good at polishing keep it up! And keep improving 🥰

Really unique take on the theme and while difficult I found the core game loop really fun. I like the pixel art too!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah it's supposed to be a little difficult but hopefully not too much! You like my pixel art?! Thank you! I feel like I have tons to learn on that front

A bit confused initially but that description in the page helped a lot. Good game :)

Developer

Glad it helped! Another commenter suggested I put something up and so I did

Submitted(+1)

Next time add some sound or music could help a lot. Otherwise great game

Developer

Thanks! There should be sound and music. Maybe it's not working? I could definitely improve in my sound design though lol, I suck at it

Submitted

Oh I see its just the settings are at 0 from start.

Submitted(+1)

The game is very polished but the systems are very complex so a tutorial is really needed imo. It was really fun though!

Developer

Thanks! That's probably my biggest feedback is to make a tutorial. I'll write something on the game page for the time being. Glad you liked it!

I'm struggeling with the bridge level, what's the trick here, if you don't mind me asking?

Developer

Hide in the box for your first transformation. Wait until the demon phase is over, and then get out and go through the door at the end.

You can't open the door as the vampire. That whole "Vampires need permission to go through doors" thing

You can interact with boxes and doors with E

I loved this, i think this game has so many different ways you can play it, i enjoyed killing everything i see and dodging attacks, while some may lean more into the stealth aspect. Some later levels are a bit laggy tho, i think because of the amount of people. Definitely one of the gems from this jam

Developer

<3 Thanks bro

love the transformation mechanic, such a neat idea

Developer

Thank you! After brainstorming like 30 ideas that one felt the most like an epiphany

NICE AND FUN GAME I REALLY LIKE THAT YOU CAN HIDE CRATES

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Can't have a sneaking mission without crates!

Submitted(+1)

I really like that you are forced to transform on a timer. I can see a lot of potential in this. Great work!

Developer

Thanks! Words like like that inspire me to make it a full game

Concept is really clever though it was a bit tough to grasp, maybe i accidentally skipped the instructions?  Music and sound effects were great!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah there's no instructions. I prefer a game to not need instructions but honestly some things could really use it. Hope you got through it well enough anyway!

Submitted(+1)

I love the main mechanic of this game, really sells the Jekyll and Hyde feel

Developer

Yes! That's exactly how it should feel

Submitted

Wow tis was amazing! You wrote me on TikTok! And you were right the music is amazing and i loved teh mechanic!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much - I really appreciate you taking the time to review my game!! Playing/reviewing yours right now!!

Pretty good game with a solid number of levels! For me, Greedy Books was by far the hardest level, and as I understand it, the last level with 999 kills is impossible to beat. Honestly, I didn't fully understand how the slowdown mechanic works. Even when I restarted the level, my player was still moving very slowly from the beginning. Anyways, this is a solid entry! Congratulations on the submission!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Same! Greedy books kicked my butt for a while.
So you're having issues on the level with 999 kills. Village right? You should be able to run through that one because the door is open at the end. You don't have to kill anyone... Only a monster would ;)

I didn't do the greatest at explaining all the systems. The 1 (or 999 kills on one level) is the number of kills you have to make as the monster each transformation or else you get hurt. Anything over that is excess and corrupts you. The more corrupted you are, the slower you move.

Another things is that when enemies are investigating you, they slow you down. Walk (try to act normal) and they'll stop investigating.

Good luck finishing the game! There's one level left, and then the ending. Let me know if you still have issues in Village

Submitted(+1)

Oh, understood! Indeed, I passed the village without any problems this time, so that was rather a misunderstanding on my part. I have completed the game, and the mechanic of the weapon that transforms you back into a human is interesting as well. I really enjoyed playing this game! By the way, I’m so grateful there was a save system — I promise I wouldn’t survive greedy books again, haha.

Good use of the theme! couldnt figure out how to beat the bridge level

Developer

Thanks!
All you have to do is get to the other side as a human! Vampires can't open doors in this game. Hiding in the first box helps
