there were a shocking amount of little nuances to the gameplay loop. the box variety was nice and i liked that you were able to push multiple boxes if there was a heavier box at the end (sorry im struggling to word it but you probably know what i mean). the game also progresses well throughout the playtime. the start is easy to get acclimated with and the difficulty curves in an exciting way. good work.

How does your game fit the theme?
As stuff piles onto your raft, the weight meter fills. Once full, a countdown will appear and if it reaches 0, your raft sinks. It adds a little stress to the game which I think works for it.

Hey from discord!! it was so fun to play, the difficulty increasing i very well done! The art and music are also very great:) tbh 5 in all criterias
Its cool and everything seems to fit, great job! sticky keys kept ruining my run lol.
really fun game! it has simple mechanics that are easy to get the hang of but things go hectic really fast if you're not locked in. GG to the devs :)
I almost managed to make it through the first level until that blasted sticky keys warning popped up! XD
This is a pretty cool entry and it seems fairly well polished. It's pretty hard, but I think that I would have a fun time playing it for a bit if I spent a bit of time practicing.
Very simple game, but very fun. Weirdly a good amount of depth and learning curve though. Music and art mesh very well together, just a solid overall experience.
Neat idea... my stupid Sticky Keys prompt kept interrupting me here. The Shift key might not be a great idea in future games for a button you'll press often.
Thanks for the input! I think shift is fine as a primary input since it feels natural to have a finger near that area, but I can definitely try to include more mappings or allow for rebindings. I always have sticky keys disabled since I’ve played a lot of games that make heavy use of shift, I know how annoying it can be 😅
I do have a mapping for X if you use arrow keys, I probably should have included J or something that can be pressed with the right hand as well for wasd
I’ll put a note or something in the description about sticky keys for now
This one's awesome.
I think a dedicated ground pound button or rolling it into the dash one while ungrounded would make controlling it a bit less awkward, and having a small number pop up over broken boxes to tell me how much points i get for throwing them overboard/breaking them would be helpful for optimizing play. But otherwise this feels impressively complete
Thanks for the input and glad you liked it! I think I’d rather keep the dash it’s own button though as I’d rather be able to buffer it when landing. A ground pound button could probably work though, I’ll maybe add one for the post jam version if I can remember. As for other things like polish, I thought of adding something like numbers popping up and some particles, but I only got my core gameplay working 4 hours before the deadline and ran out of time 😅
The game is as addictive as it is hard! The first run I got hit by the first treasure chest from the sky thinking to catch them. The second run I plow right through a plank just to get hit by the metal crate on top. The little sound effect on hit adds a lot to the game feel that it is very satisfying to shoulder bash crates even in this simple style. The pixel art is very elegantly designed and coherent.
Only thing I would ask for is an in game tutorial as I couldn't figure out the control before looking at the page description. Just a few seconds of text explaining the controls as you start would go a long way.
Fun game, reminds me of the minigame in Smash 4 where you destroy all the boxes on your platform (if anyone remembers that), and I had a lot of fun with the Wario Land-like controls. The shoulder bash did feel a bit unresponsive at times, not really sure why (may have just been the web version), and I would have especially liked if the platform tilted a bit in response to the weight on it, as that would make the whole thing a lil more dynamic and fun. Still great regardless, and the spritework is very clean.
Thanks for giving it a try, glad you enjoyed it! I guess it does remind me a bit of Trophy Rush, I even played as Wario in it so it wouldn’t be much different 😂
I’m not sure what would be unresponsive about the bash, what browser did you use? Was it lagging? I have an input buffer amd coyote time with it so it should be pretty forgiving. There’s hit stun when you bash a block if that’s what it could be. I can try to look into it, I just don’t know how to reproduce it 😅
Tilting could be interesting if it was more physics oriented, but I’m not sure how it would work with things falling on a grid unless it was just cosmetic. Sounds fun though
I tried it again now after restarting my computer and it seems to be more responsive, I assume it was some strangely targeted browser lag on my end then, no clue why it only applied to that one thing.
I used keyboard, with shift specifically and don't have sticky keys on, so I assume it was just something strange with my browser in particular
The premise is simple: destroy all the crates to lighten the ship. But guess what? The great game feel, spot-on sound effects, looping-yet-catchy music, smooth difficulty curve, and the mechanic where boxes can push each other make this game incredibly addictive. It makes you just want to keep playing on and on. I absolutely love this game!
Love it. Feelt straight out of an 80's arcade!
It was fun to play, the pixel art is great, and the sound was perfect.
This game is super addicting! My favorite part is the overall aesthetic. Its all very polished and well put together. My only criticism is related to some bugs I found, but it seems you’ve already listed them in the known bugs section.
An idea for this I was imagining was that after a while, an enemy pirate ship appears in the background. It shoots cannon balls at you. This is an additional obstacle, but maybe as a reward for dodging them, the break some blocks for you as well. So it adds another layer of chaos but also a way for the player to use environment hazards to their advantage.
Good work!
I spent way longer playing this than I intended, haha :D! It's easy to learn but challenging and hard to master. I especially like the extra strats from the Tips section, as well as how the different tiles work together (e.g. brittle blocks form traps, metal tiles push).
I found the slam without a cooldown didn't quite fit the rest of the moves, but I see it's a known bug. If there is one thing I would love to see for polish, it would have to be particles when blocks break and coins spewing from treasure chests :).
Very fun and well crafted, thank you!
This is addictive! There's a lot of movement you can make and it's quite strategic. Took me a while to understand why I was dying after bashing some of the junk, at first it seemed like randomly I'd get knocked back or pass through, but that was just me being dumb.
Soundwise, it works pretty well. The song is goofy in the right measure and the dash/bash sounds are good.
Visually, I'd like some more effects when things drop on the sea or I destroy them, but all else works very well!
I played for a couple of minutes to at least get to 500 points, I suck at the game but it has that "just one more try, I can do this" feeling. Also, from the screens there's and end to the game, right? Too hard for me though.
Thanks for playing, nice to hear you liked it!
I definitely made it a bit too hard by accident, I barely got it finished enough in time to submit and didn’t have a lot of time to do much playtesting. I definitely intended for there to be particles as well, but ran out of time and chose to focus on more pressing areas of the game. I may add a bit of an easier mode to the post-jam version so people can actually make it to the end 😂
