I thought for a sec its a social political commentary on big goverment budgets and overwhelmed centralized management. fun concept
Nice visuals, audio and art! the controls are a bit unresponsive at times, and i either suck or the rating of the newspapers is really weird. i seemingly keep dying for no reason, even on easy mode i cant beat the game.
i suspect the controls being unresponsive is a bug that i accidentally made shortly before the submission. sorry about not being able to complete it… i suppose it’s fairly opinion based so it might be a little difficult in some ways. thanks for playing, though!
AsaraBaenre's comment is basically how I felt. Like Asara, I thought the cat story was cute and funny and would be considered positive news, and it also ended my run. Similar finicky trash can issues as well. The concept is really unique and cool though. Very cool interpretation of the theme to find, essentially, an entire alternate universe in it!
thanks for playing! sorry about the trash can – with responses i’ve gotten, and hindsight, i agree that it is a little annoying… happy to hear you enjoyed though!
This game reminded me of Death & Taxes, which is a genre and style I really love. I had a bit of finnickiness trying to get the papers into the trash bin, as well as a lot of trial and error to figure out what was considered positive and what was considered negative (I would have thought the funny story about the cat stuck in the tree would be positive, for example, since it was a story about a cat and it was clearly told in sort of a satire way, but it instead ended my run haha). The idea is amazing though, would love to see it more fleshed out!
i haven’t played death & taxes, although i’ve heard good things about it! the first cat story was negative imo because, well, a cat was stuck in a tree, but your opinion is very fair. glad you enjoyed the game!
We may have made the same game lmaooo. We had slightly different directions but its shockingly close. I love the art in this, very well done!
same name too! lol, i’m gonna check yours out.
The art and tactile feel to this is killer. I'd love to play a version of this with a few more interactions that feel as good as that stamp.
thank you! i’m quite happy with the stamp. very glad you enjoyed the game!
Neat commentary and great concept. Great work!
thanks for playing! happy to hear that you enjoyed :D
Nice game, with an interesting idea.
glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing!
Very neat game, with good vibes and the stamp had a nice tactile feel to it.
thanks! i was pretty proud of how i made the stamp end up, and with the sound effects too.
Nice idea, I went with easy since I’m a slow reader
I was able to get to the end
by memorizing whether each article is good or badwhich I didn’t like, but the ending was cute
man, the balancing was difficult D:
even with the stuff i did, it still seems quite a few people have problems. really wish i’d focused more on that. glad you enjoyed it otherwise, though!
Cool idea, loved the graphics and tactile nice of the interactions! Struggled with deciding what was positive or negative in the time span, but enjoyed it still! Good job!!
yeah, i feel like good or bad, being an opinion, does make it difficult. thanks for playing!
Oooh I really like how a lot of the stories are super ambiguous, because that's how it is. You managed to capture that very well. Good job!
haha, thank you! the news in real life often feels like it’s just trying to mess with you, huh.. glad you enjoyed!
What a compelling puzzle narrative! This is pretty funny to me, but I wish I could read faster. I'd love to see how the story resolves :) (I played on easy anticipating to still struggle, but slow readers might appreciate a disability mode with no timer, but then its a completely different game I suppose)
ah, i’d hoped nobody would run into any problems with this, but alas, just as i had expected. balancing to make it possible for everyone was probably the most important and difficult part of making it for me, and i thought i did an alright job, although i suppose it was not enough. a disability mode is a good idea, and i think we talked about it for a short while during development, although it was never implemented.
You did a great job actually! I didn't feel like I had *no* time to read, but I realized that my pace would inhibit my ability to play. I might just be a casual gamer at heart, because ultimately, I consciously chose to just read deliberately. I was hooked, so the game was definitely working!
Interesting game! Kind of hard to tell what vibes the news should be but I think I did well.
thanks! i thought that could be a bit of a problem, but i hoped most people would have similar enough opinions on reading it to us to be able to pass it.
It reminds me a little of “Paper, Please”
yeah, we did have a bit of inspiration from papers please in the gameplay of it. not surprised we had someone notice this so soon :D
