Best anti-gambling PSA ever! Very dark and depressing, love it. I liked that all the endings have more or less the same outcome, as if your first choice (which wasn’t really a choice that you as the player had control over) was your most important and life-deciding one (Though I would have liked a redemption ending, or maybe an Easter egg ending where you click at the first button 1000s of times to actually decline the gambling option).

One thing I would suggest is adding a button to make the text scroll faster for replays.

Thank you!
And I do agree that there should have been a redemption ending - which I did add but forgot to push that with the final build, might add it in a post jam build. And the way to achieve is quite similar to your suggestion(after a few runs).

Much Appreciate the feedback!

I loved the writing in this, making a text adventure for a short jam is a really great idea to keep scope low.  The text has good movement and color to keep it interesting!  Reading that there was a fast forward with space bar on the game page led me to go back and get a few more endings.

Aside from speeding up the text like others suggested, I think one way to push this game over the top would be a few more sounds.  Maybe the majority of the game could stay as it is now, but I think a bit of music and sounds when the player enters the casino would be really effective.  Have a nice slot machine sound for the rolling, and after the player rolls the 111 cut back to depressing silence.

Awesome job!

Developer

Thank You!

And Yeah I still do believe that this game would be much better as a Visual novel or atleast with more SFX. Might add the latter.

Again thank you for the feedback!

Really cool concept and some awesome worldbuilding, the writing is really vivid and helped me imagine exactly how grim this reality is, one where you can see the exact value of your life and sell it off. That said, I wish it weren't as slow, as others have pointed out, as that's the main reason I didn't feel a particular draw to replay it and see other endings. Would love to in the future if it's made a bit more manageable, though! Cool stuff.

Very cool little text adventure game with an interesting lesson attached. My only real critical feedback is the agonizingly slow text speed, please allow players to advance without having to wait fo

thank you though, genuinely a cool idea, well done!

It is a quite high barier of entry to play a text adventure in such saturated game jam, but it was... well it wasn't exactly nice or cool, it was rather depressing to be honest, but I get that that is one of the emotions you were probably designing for, so that is cool.

also, PTSD:

I was about to say “nice story” but I guess it might not be the most precise description! Well written stuff and cool text effects that still stayed reasonable enough that I could read without struggling. Which is of course important in a text-based game. For full accessibility, being able to disable the wavy effect on the font would probably be a good idea. But it was great that the story always waited for me to give some input before continuing. For me personally I could have had it typing out the text a little faster, and especially for replaying the game it would be nice if I could skip forward to branching points I’ve visited or at least make text reveals near instant.

I’m glad that I replayed too as the first ending I got was sort of the fast/bad ending in a way. Well I guess that there were several bad endings, maybe only bad endings? I would have liked to explore that a bit more but with the text reveal speed seemingly fixed, I didn’t have the patience for more than two runs.

Just finished watching the Gameplay, Thank you so much for doing so!

I agree with most of the feedback and I definitely should add those sometime in the future. Speeding up the text is a must need at this point, Space bar to skip is just not intuitive(which is in the jam version). And better text formatting. And a toggle for text effects.

You actually got the more better ending of the game, the actual good ending is one that was left in development by me(forgot).

You did speak a bit about the story itself, which I am not going to be able to comment on elsewhere - Some background context is that the Casino is actually run by the Corporation that buys your life. As such you get pamphlet next morning.

And once again for the detailed feedback and the gameplay video as well, that is much appreciated!

Good narrative game with a great story!

The message of the game is deep.

I managed to get through it all, but these games really need a good forward/skipping feature for it to be enjoyable, since the text was way to slow.

With some minor tweaks the game is perfect.

Well done! :D

Thank you !

(There is a way to skip most of the test - Space Bar). and yes I have some minor updates ready for a post jam build.

THE TIMER IS A LIE! :P

Anyways, the game is unique and interesting, I liked the little animations for things such as the gambling, and wish there was more, maybe some with a little bit of interaction would be cool too. Though it would be nice be able to skip through them too. The writing was overall good and I think that this is a very solid game. Good job!

Developer

HOLY! You actually committed. Yeah there was an ending for the timer running out but not doing anything of note. I just forgot to put it in the final build. As I did genuinely not think it was possible for someone to wait for that long. That is genuinely commitment and I thank you for it.

And Yeah I have some of the feedback covered for a post jam build that I'll put up some time after the rating period ends.

This game has a great narrative. With just some animated text you were able to accomplish a lot, that’s super impressive. Unfortunately, I found the game frustrating to get through because of the slow text. I didn’t want to outright skip the text (because the content was great), but I can read faster than the game is able to write. I think having a setting where you can set the text speed to “slow”, “normal”, and “fast” would be nice!

Great work!

Developer

Thank you!

I am planning on implementing a Slider for text speed for a post jam update.

I liked the text based narration, deep and philosophical! I tried all endings :), and I was wondering why was I forced into gambling to begin with :D

A cautionary tale for all of us. This is a nice reminder to respect myself and my finances, thank you <3
