I was pretty confused by this game. Apparently there's an NPC in front of you at the start of the game but I don't see anything on the orange platform. I tried to get on top of the first section of dark grey platforms but it was too hard to do Mario 64 wall kicks in first person. I loved the grapple mechanic!

Submitted

I don't know if it's intended, but it's doable in 15 seconds by just spamming the dash mid air haha

Overall the game is nice, and the controls feel good, well done :)

Submitted

Your game is nice, I think it's hard enough for me because I'm not boring when play it. Well done for the game jam dude <3

Submitted

Interesting game, however I found it a bit hard, and controls feel floaty. Not sure if that's intended though

With the grappling hook being so fun to use, it’s a shame that it costs time because I wanted to use it everywhere! I think that it was a bit tricky to play: I think the movement could be tightened up a bit but I’m not quite sure how. I like the concept though! Wish I had more time to explore 🙂

Developer

:)) , try talking to the npcs , the first one infront of you when you spawn in makes it cost only 2s too :)

Developer

Try beating my best time in Zero Regret ending :-

Also Some Regret - 16s

all regrets - 43s

I love the concept behind your game, and it's super well done! In addition, your SFX is great, but VFX would really tie everything together. Crazy potential you've got for this project though. Good luck for the jam :)

Developer

Yeaaa true

Rip no time for vfx though but I do know some basics for allat, camera zoom too

I'm really glad I looked at the gifs before leaving the page I had been playing with only jumps and dashes haha I still got sub 14 seconds though!  Then I saw the images and checked the controls again and I was grappling like I was playing cyber hook.  I absolutely love this mechanic and its a great reminder for me.  Well done!  Very satisfying and it feels fair.  Good game.

Developer

Man, you made my day.

SomeBody got the mechanics, Lmao, finally

Developer (1 edit)

YO I JS REALISED THIS IS FASTER THEN MINE

the 2D artworks were really pretty and the grappling hook mechanic well polished, though the movement without the grappling hook still needs some work (it’s so easy to slip off platforms, even while talking to npcs)

I love the theming of the game, but the gameplay could probably use some polish and a bit of an art upgrade. Great start for a jam project though!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the grappling! the movement might need a little more polish but overall I like the feeling of going super fast, great job

Submitted(+1)

Good job on submitting the game!

I had fun doing parkour and I liked that the player can accelerate! I also found that pressing Shift mid air every second or so would allow me to reach places that were far away, not sure if that's intended or not :D

Developer(+1)

Yes we have a dash mechanic :DDD

Our grapple and dash costs time and you can even crouch! From the controls button :))

Cool idea and I liked the narrative behind it. It's your first game jam so I don't want to be too harsh, but I would definitely focus on getting that core primary gameplay loop feeling super smooth. The grappling felt fun, but the movement was tricky and unforgiving, and when the level is mostly void it meant I didn't want to risk too much, so I didn't engage much with the secondary mechanics. I love these kinds of games though so I did have a blast trying to fly around the map, it definitely worked well.
Good stuff, keep it up!

Developer

Thank you 😊

Developer

Thank you will think more on it :), what do you mean though for map is too void so we could force players to engage with the secondary mechanics though?

Submitted

I meant that I would often fall into the void and lose a lot of time, because of how unforgiving the void was I didn't want to risk going too far out to explore and talk to these NPCs and mostly just rushed to the end. Hopefully that makes sense.

Developer

Ohhh okay got it got it :) does sound like something I should put some thought into since it makes people not want to risk it thanks again :)

Kudos for finishing your first game jam! I like the high skill ceiling. I do feel the platforming and the visual novel-esque elements could have gelled better, and the level design seemed pretty random. The mechanic of having some abilities cost time was an interesting idea. Good luck with the jam and any future game development endeavors!

Developer(+1)

The level feels random as it's a single level that has 3 endings based on the paths you take.

You can rush to the gate for zero regret ending.

Or go to the 1 of 2 NPCs closest to spawn to gain a regret and a buff that u want, options are more time or grapple costing less.

Or u can take one of 3 routes to complete the all regret ending where u need to gain regret from every npc and complete the run in time.

But i also know where your critisism is coming from. And we will learn from this and improve in future.

Thanks for your review.

Really impressive, also for a first game! Cool mechanic, I felt like Spider-Man. This would be great in VR! ♥️

Developer

Thanks! Maybe vr could work haha but I think I'd get motion sickness or our laptops die first but I have tried making vr!

Submitted(+1)

pretty good mechanics! loved it.

Developer

thank you

It felt really good, but it needs a bit more polishing for the final version.
Developer

thank you, we spent most time on the movement mechanics instead of artwork.

we understand your feedback and thank u for it :)

Submitted(+1)

Interesting idea, and I liked that the style almost felt like Myst in a way.

I felt bad at actually playing it >_<

Developer

thank you :)

This is a really cool idea! A speedrun game like this would be sooo good! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out

Submitted

There is definitely potential for a crazy speedrun game here! The momentum mechanics are super neat, but it lacks a bit of visual feedback (like FOV shifts or screen shake) to really sell the sense of speed. Expanding on those time-cost trade-offs would make this incredible!

Developer

yesss !!! i really wanted to also add in and make some vfx of like wind particles but we were out of time and focusing on other aspects like npc , building and the code/irl stuff but thank you we wanted to aim for that too  :)
