I managed to reach the exit!
It took a bit for understanding the game (on my first times I was losing health for every move without understanding why), but then I got the hang of it.
It’s a good job and with the stuff you added in the comment it will be even better (like putting the @ for the character position, putting the commands in the game and not only at the beginning, better maze generation, so you can avoid situations like being on bombs and skeletons in the first position and so on).
Congratulations!
Added a crosshair to indicate the player's location, updated the menu descriptions for new content, increased the maze generation density, tweaked skeleton AI so skeletons don't overwrite each other while moving, and added a small chance for skeletons to detonate bombs simply by walking over them.
That's kinda fun, played around 5 or 6 games. I think there can be improvements like, showing more than just a 5x5 map (but not too much so it can still be a maze where you don't know where to go), the instructions are well explained, but I needed some time to understand I was on the center of the map, maybe a "P" letter for "Player" would be nice. Overall, it's good, reminds me of games we were asked to do in my courses to learn a language like in Java, C, etc.
Yeah I think If I edit the game I will add some indication of where the player is, since you're the 2nd person to comment this. Thanks for the feedback it's very helpful!
You're welcome, was a fun game you did great.
neat, although the map can become kind of hard to look at after a while...
Edit:
The game isn't bad. It's impressive that you were able to write it in C++, considering the fact that C++ (for some people) isn't really an easy language to write in. Being able to choose a map size also makes the game a little more fun in its own way. It's just that ASCII games give me sore eyes. But I'm pretty sure that there's a large (if not, vocal) audience of people who love these types of games and would be ecstatic to see something like this.
I was trying to go for an early nethack style with that. It was a popular rogue game in the 80s and 90s. I think it's actually still in development.
