The explosion sound is hilariously over the top. It is appropriate for the explosion though because it will absolutely vaporize you. I wish I had a tractor beam to reattach my laser. The background music loop was critical for knowing what the timer was at and it made it so I could always know without ever having to look. That's an idea a lot of other games in this jam could have benefitted from imo.

How does your game fit the theme?
The turret is powered by a volatile core. There is a countdown and every 10 seconds it blasts. You have to eject it strategically

Interesting concept! It was like hot potato, but you can throw the potato at an enemy to nuke him and his friends.
I got a high score of 11 lol...
Is the hitbox on the turret just really small or something? I kept "missing" it even though it looked like I was hitting it.
Really fun idea! Timing when to eject the turret was tense, and I loved that the music helped you judge how close it was to exploding. A clearer sound when taking damage would help, but I had a great time.
This was a really interesting idea. Having to decide when to eject your turret early enough so that you don't explode but also late enough that you aren't overwhelmed with enemies with no way to shoot them was pretty fun. I also really liked how the music directly corresponded with the timer. You can tell how soon the turret is going to explode by listening to the music, without even needing to look at the meter.
I did think that some things felt a little rough, like how it was a bit finnicky to pick the turret back up sometimes. The game ending so abruptly when you lose also didn't feel great. I also think some additional sound effects would have been nice. Still, this kind of roughness is understandable for a game jam game.
Thanks for playing! It was our first time using Godot (and my brother's first time coding any game in this decade :D), so we took 2 days just to get into flow. Yeah, the game over could have been made better, and attacks and damage needed to feel more tactile. The hitbox on the turret also accidentally got too small, should have been larger.
Nice arcade game bro. I see it was your first ever game here on itch, so congrats on that as well.
Something about the very professional looking artwork and whimsical music and audio effects just makes this a very fun game. The decaying turret concept is very cool and feels very polished as a game concept. I do think some more audio effects can be used here though.
The game was fun, and the music was very helpful to the gameplay. The explosion range of the turret was quite wide, making knowing when to throw the turret an interesting challenge, especially with the looping borders of the game. Some noise indicating when you lose health may have been helpful, because I would take damage and not realize it. Cool game! Great work!
Very fun mechanic, and I liked the audio giving me a good idea when to eject the turret. Somehow managed to get my ship stuck moving downwards constantly like the down key was stuck on my first run (but never encountered this again). Also one time the turret pickup got stuck on an alien ship for a bit which was pretty funny but also probably not intentional.
Hehe, thanks for playing. I noticed the bug with the turret getting stuck to enemies but I liked it so I kept it. In fact after that I wanted to make it a feature that you could throw it like a sticky bomb, but time was running out so I had to leave it as is.
The music thing was an innovation of my brother’s who gave the sound on this game. He has a good knack for these things
Really cool game!
The turret feels a bit hard to pick back up after throwing sometimes but other than that it was great!
The turret throwing mechanic is cool! Did have a bit of trouble getting the controls down but was pretty fun :)
Hi! Thanks for playing. I am not used to playing games on a keyboard, so went with the control scheme which made the most sense in the moment. But definitely could be improved a lot. Not only the scheme, but the movement feel too. If I return to the game post jam I might add controller support too. Seems more apt for a twin stick control IMO
Quite fun, sometimes annoying, a little hard to control, but it's pretty solid.
Good game!
Really nice that the audio guides you on when you should dispose of the turret
