Great game and concept, it was fun once I got the hang of it. One issue I had were weird random freezes on webgl build (My PC isn't weak or anything like that). Otherwise this is a great idea, I think you should develop this further

Developer

Thank you very much for taking the time to give feedback!
Yeah, there are a lot of issues with the WebGL build. My own laptop lags a lot as well. Many seem not to have the issue, so I suspect it may be that Godot has some differences on certain systems/browsers.  I'm sure better optimisation in future could also help (the code is spaghetti)

I like the idea on paper, but it's very ambitious for a 4 days game jam. I'm probably bad but the game is fairly hard, e.g. it would probably help if I could see the active timers somewhere on the GUI.

Definitely super creative concept!

I really appreciate the feedback! Having to count by yourself was part of the game, but I already completely agree from feedback that it is too hard and that it needs to be a bit better balanced. There are supposed to be some visual indicators (a flash) on each tick to help you count; there was a rendering bug in the web build, unfortunately, that hid it.

really cool mechanics! Just 2 small things, the wall riding felt very strict on when I could jump off and I wouldve liked some audio feedback on the timers.

Besides that very good game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback!! Yeah, I definitely could work on the audio a bit more. I will look at increasing the wall coyote time further if it still feels a bit strict.

I think it would be better if you make a clockticking sounds or countdown UIs on the screen. It is hard to remember.

The concept of the game was pretty good!

Yeah, I really appreciate the feedback! There is supposed to be a flash on each count, though; that was a rendering bug in the web build (so I'd appreciate it if you aren't too harsh in that regard). Having to count by yourself was part of the game, but I agree that it needs to be a bit better balanced, and some audio indicators or ticking sounds as well will also be first on the list after the jam!

The core gameplay loop is a lot of fun, and the mechanics behind the game seem fairly interesting! The timed abilities is a great concept for this style of game, though probably needs a bit more UI and Audio work to more instantly indicate to the player what is happening. The art style is fairly basic, though by no means is that a bad thing and everything indicates fairly well what it is!

I really like the idea behind this one, and with some tweaks I think it could be really really good! First of all, the skybox was honestly blindingly bright lol, I don't know if that's a webgl problem, but it made it very hard to read text and see the floating icons. I like the differently timed abilities, but I wish it was more clear when they got activated. You've written about that being a bug with the webgl build so I assume it isn't a problem if you download the game. I think it'd be cool if the timers restarted after finishing, because otherwise the player is forced to kill themselves to try again. This could also add more different puzzles if you wanna expand on the game in the future! Pretty cool game with a ton of potential!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, no, the glowing is a WebGL problem; I didn't have time to fix it. It was just a bit unexpected, as I assumed the game would play the same in the export. I think the downloaded game is slightly better for the activation indicators, but I think clearer feedback when things are getting activated is definitely something worth improving anyway! I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback!

It's fun and enjoyable! I love those puzzles and how you build up mechanics from your core idea. It's just sometimes a little bit difficult to jump at the accurate moment lol. I like how you build the neat art style with limited time and assets too. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much for taking the time to give me feedback! I'm glad you were able to enjoy it! I agree that the game gets a bit too difficult too quickly; I think it could definitely benefit from some extra levels to ease you into it a bit more and get the hang of the timings. And thank you for your thoughts on the art style!

The very last jump was HARD!

Keeping track of the count was a little difficult too, but I understood that it was probably a web version issue. I managed to succeed anyway, so I guess it's fine!

That said, it was really fun and a very interesting mechanic!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing! It's good feedback.  Thank you for being understanding about the web version. There was supposed to be a little flash on each tick as a visual cue to help count (and it's a shame it's not visible on the web build), but regardless, the game could have definitely had some easier levels. I appreciate that you managed to complete the game anyway very much!

Feel like the audio was doing some serious lifting here! That was fun – I really was struggling with it at first until I realized that the timer just started a countdown wherever I was and I didn’t have to stand next to the box to have it go off. Once I figured that out, it was really fun.

The movement felt great and precise, the wall slide and bounces felt good and I thought it was an innovative way to use the theme. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy it! I will keep what you said in mind for the future; it's very possible more was needed in the tutorial.

A neat idea! Would love to see more!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

movement was a little rigid but I see the potential and enjoyed trying to play it the way you intended. Really have some clever ideas here and I can tell you have good instincts for game design. Would love to see what you could do with some more time and resources. Great entry :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback!! I appreciate it very much! I will keep what you said about the movement in mind; it's a very important part of a game. By rigid, do you mean that it's a bit too linear or snappy? I admit I did use quite a high lerp value.

Fun game!
