As a long time SBIG enjoyer this was a wonderful little unfinished send-off for a remarkable jank career!

It was really neat getting to walk (and drive!) around the town and through buildings, seeing all the little details and various characters was a cool walk down memory lane. It made me feel very nostalgic and tickled parts of my brain that hadn't been activated in years!

I loved the mix of buildings in different states of completion, and especially the untextured museum and stacked apartment buildings! Just the slapdash feel in general really comes through lol. And the various little interactions with characters were fun, I really hope we get to see an XCVG game with physical dice as a mechanic someday though!

Frankly just the idea of a janky small town feels oddly cozy to me, and I don't think we've had nearly enough walking sims in SBIG so this was a very nice experience on that front.

As others have mentioned, this made me feel very sentimental as someone who has played and referenced all these games, it's a kind of bittersweet moment. Like the last day of high school or university, it's the end of an era and no one really knows what's coming next but you can at least look back fondly at what was!

It's been an awesome ride over these past several years, and genuinely thanks for all your art and feedback to both myself and many others in the SBIG community and beyond. I can't wait to play the finished product, and I hope that whatever you do outside of game dev will be even more fulfilling!

Excellent work, so long and thanks for all the fish!

Thanks for playing!

Museums and walking tours are definitely touchstones for the design. It wasn't meant to be slapdash initially, but placeholders stayed in as the scope narrowed, and honestly I think it fits well enough that I'm going to try to keep some of that energy in the final version (some buildings will need to be replaced so they can have interiors).

"an XCVG game with physical dice as a mechanic" I think that's a matter of when, not if, but on a technicality and maybe not the technicality you think.

Last day of school is an apt comparison. Closing the book on a pretty long chapter, but also moving on to somewhere (hopefully) new and exciting. Stepping back is definitely bittersweet, but I do feel it is the right decision because it does give me room to do things I'm much more excited for.

Even though I haven't been sticking to SBIG nearly as long, it has a special place in my heart for enforcing creativity by essentially taking a step back (which I admit I suck at doing so). This is a really cool tribute to the jam history also packed with references - Can't wait for the finished product!

I'll be sharing an update on my plans for the full game soon.

Damn I really have missed a lot on the history of SBIG Jams. There are so many references that I just don't understand...

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Admittedly, most of them are references to my own entries. I do plan on adding shout-outs to various jam legends, but not until after the voting period ends.

Just brilliant.  I absolutely loved all the old jam references.  Will definitely come back to this when all the songs are finished.  Absolutely great SBIG game.

I do plan on finishing this in some form or another, but it could be a while.

honestly, I enjoyed this game. I will assume that this is a perfectly accurate reproduction of Fort Langley, and I will not be swayed with any so-called photographic evidence to the contrary.

I liked the callbacks to your previous SBIGjam entries (I got most of the references).

One hiccup I did run into is that the ending narration mentioned in the other comments doesn’t seem to play on my end (then again, I’m using the Linux build). It seems that the game just doesn’t call whatever method is responsible for do track Track10 after all prior tracks have been played (regardless of however many tracks have been obtained). Everything else seems to work though.

Still, nice singing (better than mine lol), great work!

I was going to fix the level up after the jam for the full release (the street layout is still going to remain simplified), but honestly I think I might leave a lot of it as-is, only replacing buildings that need interiors.

Track10 is extra special. It could be hitting some edge case in the script, but it's also possible it's stalling or crashing out trying to load the credits video. Incorrect path or codec issue, maybe. The Linux build is labelled experimental because I've never tested it, sorry!

I wish I'd gotten further along and the singing was a little better, but I... don't hate it.

I like this lookback, I have so much still to learn from SBIG, hopefully for many years to come. Also, I hope your arm turns out ok c:

Thanks for playing!

I'm happy to report that the arm is already quite a bit better.

What a treasure trove of SBIGJam lore! It kinda made me feel a bit nostalgic. Seeing Geralt and Jennifer and Sid and the excessive sound guys and the other cast of characters was a really nice throwback! (It did make me replay parts of riftbreak 😂) Honestly the ending made me feel a bit sentimental. Obviously as someone who has seen all of these games, and also feels the pain of not properly finishing something 😅 It did feel like a true send off to SBIGJam (as in, it was completely half-baked 🤣).

World design was very on point! Surprised by the completely pointless driving mechanic. 😄 Thanks for your service to SBIGJam over the past 10 years. It's truely been a memorable ride.

It felt right to bring out the old characters and work them into what is really more a celebratory look back than an actual game. I wanted to put in some of the recurring characters like Kevin34, Frank Malone, and the Tortoise, but I just didn't have time to go beyond my own creations (and even then some are missing). The ending is 100% a meta narration aimed straight at the player, and at the old hands especially.

I threw the car in at the last minute, I'd already built it for a project that will never see the light of day, so I figured "what the hell, if it works I'll ship it."

I'm not quite done with this yet- the part in the ending narration about finishing the game and making it a proper sendoff is real. But I'll talk about that more after the jam.

What I played so far of this is really cool! Seems like there's a lot of references I don't understand yet (I have 10 years of So bad it's good lore to catch up on! 😂) but I  like the town design and the artwork is great!

I encountered a game breaking bug: If going to fort langley, but pressing cancel rather than going inside, the game locks up completely for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

As the name implies, it's very much a look back on 10 years of SBIG Jam. The eventual finished version will lean into that even harder, and hopefully bring in some references to other SBIG titles like Out Of Order and Kevin34 (among many others).

That bug is now fixed in 1.0.1. Thanks for reporting it!

Had another play through! Very much worth it! (I managed to find all 5? songs!)

The break from the start of the band set to the unaccompanied vocals sent me bursting out laughing! Also because the game didn't crash I got to see the pop up! (where do I sign up?? 😂)
