This was great! The number of levels surprised me - I particularly liked the one where you had to return to the start while possessing the fireball-shooting soul to complete it. The difficulty balance is a bit off, though… the two levels directly after that one, for instance, were so easy as to hardly be levels at all. I also never used the close-range possession, as it didn’t seem to work for me the first couple times I tried it; though, luckily, that didn’t seem to slow me down enough to matter. The game looks great, though I might turn the gamma up a little, as I had trouble seeing the ground sometimes. Great work overall!
This was a pretty good game, like, it didn't even feel like a jam entry! Extremely polished graphics, UI and audio design. The game is a wee bit hard, but I like it; I would love a quick restart button and gameplay modifiers if you plan on expanding it post-jam. Overall, really enjoyed the game!
Very cool and impressive for a jam game, polished art, sounds, music, and interface! Unfortunately a few things hurt my enjoyment of the gameplay: First and foremost, the time slowdown as it nears zero is *extremely* unpleasant; once the timer gets that low I'd rather just restart the level than try to continue or wait it out. A button for instantly restarting the level would be nice, since a single jump or missed possession can immediately tank an attempt and it would be nice to seamlessly get back into the action. I found trying to swap souls while jumping to be very fickle; I noticed a shortcut but couldn't seem to take advantage of it because I couldn't get it to swap (even after getting the cursor to indicate I could) near the apex of my jump. Your body completely blocks the camera if you try to look nearly straight up, which I found to be an issue on the level introducing the hooks you can grapple to. Lastly, I had trouble using the short range burst to swap, no matter where I stood in relation to the other soul; I think this was only an issue on 1 or 2 levels so I'm not really sure why it would work fine everywhere else.
Overall though, a very solid, polished jam entry!
Crazy for a game made for a jam! The artstyle is nice and I personally like it, the gameplay feels good, there's actual difficulty in some levels, there's audio, options, a reset button, level select, souls with different stats and abilities and even leaderboards! I'm pleasantly surprised by how well done this is, VERY solid game!
I think the only bug I found was ONE red soul inside the ground in a level (I think it's level 6).
Other than that, I just sort of wish there was a bit more light in some levels because the darkness can make some a biiit unclear (like level 8). And also from 8 onwards I noticed sometimes even though your cursor displays that purple-y color that suggests you can swap with the soul you are looking at, sometimes you actually can't due to collisions (not sure if it's intended). The last thing is just a nitpick but it feels like the final 2 levels are sort of just thrown there pretty quickly, but that's JUST because the level design is really nicely done everywhere else and taught and expanded on the mechanics nicely!
Thank you so much!
We haven't noticed the stuck soul in the ground yet but thank you for letting us know.
You're the first to point out the issue with the crosshair! We've noticed it too, and unfortunately there is a small bug that can make that reticle not so accurately represent that you can hit your target :(
Looks and sounds great, a ton of fun. Unfortunately crashed my computer and so I didn’t make it through, lol, but great entry; well done.
