Summarize your game!
Arcade Job simulator! Order and place arcade cabinets, collect money from hoppers, repair broken machines, and spray deodorant on the smelliest gamers.
Your ultimate goal is to maximize your arcades notoriety by having gamers beat highscores
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
For fame and glory (and ca$h m0ney) you must attract the most hardcore gamers so that your arcade will be known as the place to go for the toughest highscores
Unfortunately, these hardcore gamers are known to have short tempers and poor hygiene
but such is the cost of progress
Did you use Generative AI to make any assets in your game?
No

Great idea, well executed.
The gamer models had a lot of character, and you could almost smell the stinky gamer through the screen!
I did almost get lost in the options menu at the beginning as there was no indication on how to get back to the main menu (Tab it turns out).
Changing to the wrench while looking at a machine meant that you need to click a couple of times or look away and back again to get the correct contextual action, which did become a bit tedious when the number of machines grew.
I did note initially that when I did steps from the tutorial task list out of order, I was not able to complete the task list and had to restart.
I think that there wasn't a lot of "Cost" to the game. Having a lot of machines and running around spraying the stink away seemed to be the best strategy, and then repairing broken machines as next priority. It would probably work better if the sprays were consumable, so you had to plan how many to have ready for the day which could lead to having less machines.
Apart from that I did have a blast playing it, and it looked like you had a blast making this too! Great job (p.s. I did notice the dev's handles in the leaderboard which is always a nice touch!)
Love the game! Though there is a soft lock issue that I ran into several times before I could safely progress in the game. If you do any of the task lists prior to the task showing up, like unboxing the arcade machine or getting the spray/wrench, then you can't compete the task when it shows up, which soft locks you. I think improving the UI or making it more obvious would be helpful there or having the task list be mandatory prior to getting free reign of the game.
I would've loved to have more influence on the ambience, like having a music machine where you can help choose the vibe of the arcade and being able to make money from the gumball machine.
Overall I really enjoyed the game! Excited to see this project grow if you choose to!
Thanks for the review!
I actually considered removing the tutorial altogether because I figured it would probably mislead players. The tutorial tasks are just there to be a guide, they don’t actually affect anything progression wise so you should be able to fully play the game regardless of the state of the tutorial.
And yeah this type of game needs a lot of customization options. We plan on developing the game further and customization is going to be a main focus.
Thanks again for playing!
Cool game man, I like the concept. Materials & animation... design is on point well done :) I think the tricky part to this would be balancing out repairing / money collecting that wouldn't be so repetitive. Similar to how you explained a key issue with my game. I should have put more time into having it scale better that focusing on the visual side of it. BIG UPS!
The game might take a while to load on start up. It also does the ol’ freeze for a second when a new material appears for the first time. So expect a few stutters while customers walk in on day one
