Game got recommended to me by a friend, so incredible achievement you made there!!

First off, this is such a creative idea for the Countdown-Theme.
I like how you don't really give anything away from the puzzle. Figuring all the mechanics out by myself - even if it looked frustrating at the beginning - was probably the funniest part.

And not to forget: of course i solved the starting seed 😎

A small but enjoyable game.

This feels like having a fever dream about linear algebra. I like it!

Spent so long trying to figure it out that I missed the rating period - sorry. I did solve it though!

Thanks for playing, and congrats for solving it! I wasn't looking for ratings with this game :^)

I SOLVED IT! Wow, that's such a unique puzzle; you really thought this through! It took me a bit to figure out the mechanics, but after a good amount of scheming, I actually found a reliable way to solve them, every time! I'm not sure if the strategy is foolproof, but it's worked three times in a row so far, and that's good enough for me. I'm curious, though; how did you calculate the number of moves a player would need to make in order to complete the puzzle? Even more curiously, how did you handle the level generation?

Developer

I'm very very glad to learn this! Thank you for persevering!

The number of moves available is derived from existing tile types as well as board dimensions. It isn't a "smart" calculation, but rather a "safe" one (more than enough to clear any level). This only works because levels aren't about maximizing or minimizing score - the required score calculation is purely tied to grid dimensions :)

Levels are generated randomly, through basic seeded rng. To avoid having all levels look like noise, some seeds roll some mirroring modifiers - horizontal, vertical and axial. And that's really it!

honestly pretty nice UI and great game feel, but the puzzle is way too confusing, should've added at least some tutorial hints for dumb players like me

Developer

No worries, there's no expectations for players to solve this in 5 minutes :)

I think I might be too smooth brained for this one. I played around for a while but was struggling to understand exactly how the numbers relate to the shapes (and colours?). A tutorial or more details for those who are struggling on the game page would be good.

A very interesting adoption of the theme though and the leaderboard and seeds could defintely lead to a strong community racing to beat seeds. Keep it up!

Developer

Hi! Don't worry, figuring out the rules is the first part of the puzzle, so all that matters is making the attempt. Thanks for checking it out!

unreasonably unique take on the theme. was wildly confused about what i should do at the start, but after smelting some of the info it got really really interesting playing. great stuff!
