really satisfying game! I love the retroish style and the crt shader
on my first run I could find any enemies but once I restarted it was fine
could also use slightly smarter enemies, it seemes that they have quite a deathwish and i dont even have to try to kill them
great job :)
Yes, the enemies are very random, I didn't work on them loads. Thank you! ;)
Very fun game. It's a very good remix of tron and snake. I feel like it would be perfect if we could go a little faster, but overall it is amazing.
Thank you, I'll increase the max speed after the jam :)
Reminds me of Snake.io game :)
This game makes a good use of the prerequisite.
I think you can improve by :
- making the little arrow/head more visible
- make the camera in a square shape : so it's as hard to dodge no matter in what side you go.
- make the game a bit more dynamic, mabye more enemies but coming slower, so you don't have to wait for an enemy for too long
Even if I wasn't able to score more than a few points, this was nice !
Thanks for the feedback, I'll probably implement these after the jam finises :)
Really cool game, good sounds and look, but I would change the keybinds. Naturally, I often pressed S and W to change direction, so I would put accelerate on left click, decelerate on right click, and the whole movement on WASD. Great work ;)
Thanks, I'll look into adding settings for key binds after the jam ;)
Besides the overall gameplay, I like the minor things. So the touch that your tail changes the color on replay is a chief's kiss - love it.
I really like the representation of "Speed as a weapon" here, it's the idea of "the faster the harder" but in snake shell it's a cool mechanic. The controls... Man, I'm struggling af. And I always had it with the common snake. x) But it's just a skill issue.
The thing that I noticed:
I'd really much appreciate if I saw more of the field. I might even consider it being as in classic Snake where you see the whole screen - but I understand that you probably chose the moving camera because of the increasing speed. However, it feels like when I'm using the fast speed, it becomes almost impossible to react/attack the enemies when camera is so close to player, so it makes sense to actually use the slower speed, as you can kill enemies easier with more control.
Very much appreciated, I agree and will definitely make the camera view slightly larger and possibly make the map smaller - another person suggested adding a small mini map to see where the other snakes are, which is a great idea to see ones nearby, maybe I could make it so you only see the rough area their in so there is still a reason to go slow which would then solve this issue as well. Thanks!
Cool one :)
Much appreciated!
True to the description, it really feels like a tron game!
Only moot point is the map bounds that stop you right in your tracks, but once you get a sense of the map size it's okay :)
Yes, I could probably add a warning system for when nearing the edge of the map, thank you!
Really enjoyed playing this! The sound effects and visuals tied everything up nice and neatly! I only got 1 point which qualifies me as a low skill player, but I still had fun.
Ha I'm not great either.
Nice game! The art fits very well, but I think there are too few enemies. You should add more so the game feels more active. :)
I didn't add too many as my unusual programming makes the game very leggy 💀 I could make the map a little smaller and fix the lag, thank you!
You're welcome! That makes sense. I think a smaller map could help a lot.
Also, if you get the chance, I'd love to hear what you think about my game too!
Sure I will now :)
Simple but cool game! I like the design — I love minimalist interfaces, and it was a pleasure to play. Good job!
Really appreciate it!
The game felt so relaxing, love the vibes! I also love the robotic voice. I just felt a minimap could help, as sometimes I lost track of the snakes. And, it was a bit hard to play for me haha. But once I get used, it was really fun to kill the snakes!
That is a great idea, thank you, I'll look at adding that in the future!
Interesting idea and setting, idk why adding 2 additional control buttons brought me such different fill of classic game. The only weird thing - enemy spawn either so random, or this is as designed, but in 1st minute I met the only one enemy (and it went away of my view and I missed him again for ~30 seconds haha)
Thank you! Yeah the spawner is really random I will have a look for future.
