Looking for an Artist & Sound Designer for a Game Jam!

Hi everyone! My name is Sebastian, and I’m a programmer. I’m looking for an Artist and a Sound Designer to team up and make a game using my custom-built game engine.

About the Engine

I’m developing a custom 2D sprite-based engine. Here are the systems currently implemented:

  • Grid Movement & Level System: Manages tiles and entities on a grid layout.
  • Tile Level Loader: Quickly loads and renders levels.
  • Entity Component System (ECS): Handles all entity types (player, pickups, items, enemies, background tiles).
  • Plant System: A system inspired by Plants vs. Zombies for placing/planting items in the scene.
  • Enemy AI: Currently in progress, but will be ready before the jam starts!
Note on Development: This is not a "vibe-coded" or AI-generated engine. I wrote 90%+ of the codebase myself. I only used Claude and ChatGPT occasionally for bug fixes and troubleshooting complex problems. The software architecture was inspired by the Cherno.

Since this is a custom engine, it doesn't have a visual asset loader like Unity or Godot—I will handle all asset loading and integration myself

If you are interested on working with me, let me know!

Thanks for reading!

hiii, im an artist and interested to be a part of your team

Hey mas, great! My discord is sufferer_developer so we can chat more about jamming over there

Hey SuffererDev, I just want to point out that you’re already breaking several rules of the jam:

use of AI is strictly prohibited

Rules > AI art/AI tools
AI art, AI code generation and AI tools are not allowed to be used in this jam. This is to encourage creativity and thinking for yourself. If you need assistance, please team up with a human with a matching skillset - there are plenty on our Discord and itch forum.

setting up your engine and tooling is fine before the jam, but the portions you’ve coded like “plant system” and “enemy AI” are too game specific and should not be something you work on until the jam starts.

FAQ > Questions about GBJAM entries > What can I work on before the jam?
You are allowed to set up your tools and your game engine. Tools include: palettes, fonts, tracker instruments and code libraries. Anything that is specific to a particular idea should wait until the jam starts.

Please take a look at the rules on the main page and browse through our FAQ lower down on the page. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Hello SufferDev, I am a 2D and 3D Artist. I might help out with the GB Art Assets for the team in the upcoming GB Jam 14. I did worked on Pixel Art before on other games such as Black Cosmos, The Gun Sisters, No Vacation, and Searching Home.

I wanted to know the status update on this. I'm just wondering. Thank you.
