The game is broken, sorry :'( Also, CW metaphor of survival to harassment, lgbt-phobia.

Nice! I liked it! Not much bugs except i got stuck in a rock haha! Keep going, I'm also learning!

Developer

Hey, thank you ! I know about the getting stuck thing, I removed a rebound feature from the player just before submitting because in some places I didn't like it >< I'll debug and improve the game a bit when I'm back from vacation within a few days :p
If you have other advice or ideas you think would improve the game feel free, I'm making a list !

Nice! Have a nice vacation!

I really like the atmosphere it created with the visual and the music! The sudden change in mood midway caught me off guard, and it gave me a feeling that something big was happening! Unfortunately the game broke midway and I couldn't figure out how to progress even after pressing R to restart. But I think you are on the right track to create a good narrative experience!

Developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback and encouragement :)

Do you remember approximately where the game broke ?

Do you have any advice you want to share ? I'm going on holiday for a week, when I come back I want to publish an improved and fixed version of this game :)

Submitted

I think after the monster encounter, my ghost got stuck in between some rocks in the river, then the game froze after I pressed r to reset.

Developer

Ok, thanks ! I'm not home for a few days but I'm making a note, I'll check that.

I think I may have broken the restart feature while solving another bug just before submitting, sorry. This is my 3rd jam and well, I'm still not very good at everything 😅

This is less of a game, and more of an... experience. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not my kind of experience. I liked the visuals, not very polished, but it all looked very personal which I like. The music also fits the setting of the game. And I really felt something when the music suddenly stopped.
Too bad the game is broken D:
But good job overall.

Developer

Thanks ! Yeah I agree to the experience thing. Maybe it was a bit too much on the "drifting" theme. I thought of adding multiple endings depending on the path you follow but I didn't really have time for this and I think I wanted to tell that story ?

I'll make an improved version when I'm back from family holiday -> Do you have advice or queries that would help me improve it ?

Submitted

I think giving the player the ability to dash back (only enough to just move a bit but too slow to go back completely) will give the player a bit more controll to not bump into things, but should keep the feeling of helplessly drifting off. Also, if you're plannin on adding multiple endings, create a clear choise and make impact with the choise that is made. These are things you could try/test.
Good luck with the rest!

I like the message behind it and the story felt nice

Thank you <3

Cute little game.

Thanks !

i didn't see anything THAT broken but the boat was moving a little bit weird. i love the story!

Developer(+1)

Thank you !
Yes, I know about the boat. I will take time to polish it when the jam ends. If you have more advice or things you'd like to see in the game if you want to re-play it, I'm making a list of everyone's ideas and I'll take an additional 2-3 days to publish an improved version.
I'm learning on my own so any technical or game-design advice is welcome :-)

I have an idea but idk how you would make it logical to the story, basically you could add a moment where the character is stressed or something like that and you have to do something to calm down (spam a button, press on a timing…) kinda like in celeste in the gondola scene (idk if you played celeste and i might have explained that really badly)

Developer(+1)

I haven't played Celeste but I will have a look, thanks ^^

Yeah, adding mini-games - or puzzles to solve ? - could be a good idea to improve the game and make it more a game than an experience. Thanks for the insight !

For the celeste thing just search gondola scene on youtube, you’ll find it and dm me when you update the game :)

Not broken to me either! I love the message behind it, and the art is nice. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot !

I fixed the broken thing (mostly) but didn't have time to update the page due to planning things.

Submitted(+1)

It isn't broken at all. I really liked it!

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you <3 I'm very happy with everyone's comments !

What a lovely looking game!! It didn't seem broken to me. The contrast between the idyllic beach vibe and the story was really quite cool, so much work and story for a 4 day jam too!

Developer

Thank you ! Honestly I think the biggest work was to code everything even if it's easy mechanics as I'm learning on my own.
I used assets for the graphics and audio, so feel free to check the credits on the page if you liked them :-)
