Honestly a spectacular game. This was really creative and I absolutely love sliding around in office chairs. I also loved the added skill in holding space and landing in the specific spot to get the best push. It was a perfect touch. I also appreciate how forgiving the scoring is. The only critique I could make is that the maps, especially once I got to the third level, get a little too big. Overall really glad I could give it a try!
It was cool I think I would have preferred a bit more acceleration when we were on the yellow section, but other than that it was fun and unique
I got out of bed to ruin this man’s day only for someone else to beat me to it before the download finished and now im sitting here mad at myself for not having played such a peak game sooner. Best chair spinner in the jam by far with an incredibly serious premise.
if this doesn't win seriousness WE RIOT
seriously tho great game, out of all the chair spinning games I played, this has the most comfortable controls, I just wish we could see our guy's orientation through walls but that's a small nitpick
the humour is on point, the music with all the corporate talk vocal samples really nailed the fever dream aesthetic, genuinely everything works perfectly together here and I hope it scores well on all fronts, good stuff
Thank you for the praise! I spent a good chunk of time refining the humour and trying to nail the absurd satire of it all, and I'm glad I managed to nail that on the head. The music was the most fun bit to write and I struggled to get it feeling right. I ended up spending the last day polishing everything up and I'm glad the experience all came together well.
Thank you for playing!
Lol. This was great! I really like the texture work especially and the moment when.... I.... uh... excuse me I have go attendtosomethingurgentbye
Asset Liquidation? More like GPU Liquidation !!!
On all seriousness, it's a fun game. Before playing I thought it was literally about selling home goods (liquidating assets) and it was only on the second level, that I realized that it was a euphimism LMAO. I thought it was an entertaining game, kinda reminds me of Clowning Around which is another game around here with a similar mechanic. I don't know if there was more stuff more epic to discover since I left off at like level 4, but I really liked the audio, and how it changed per level, the queue thing I didn't understand where it came from but it was funny lol.
I wouldn't say it's my type of game, but it's pretty well made, and I don't know if this is because of my system requirements but the game felt slow, I always got "Needs Improvement" in the time category and Outstanding or Exceeds Expectations on the others, so yeah. Also I'm not sure if spinning while pushing yourself gave u a lil boost, only tried it once, so yeah.
Overall, I think it's a solid game, great graphics, and I'm sure there was more to see, but I couldn't. So yeah, thanks for making this :D
Also, I don't know if it's intended but on two ocassions the employees (obstacles) talked to me through the walls, if I was close enough.
Damn - sorry to hear it ran a little slow on your side! I tried to make it as optimized as I could, and it looks like when packaging for Linux a lot of settings got reset that prevented this from being the case. Agh.
I'm glad you had fun - the name is one of the worst puns I have ever put to paper, but it's been well received. The audio was pretty fun to do, especially with the music - making a unique track for each level was pretty fun to do, especially as I'm not much of a composer!
I threw a lot of corporate-core fun lil' things in, the Hold Music was one of those. Stuff like that, the random tidbits of dialogue the other coworkers give, and such.
It's not my kind of game either, as I don't really play speedrun-y titles, and also don't normally work on them professionally, so this was a new experience for me in general. I'm glad that it was fun even if it wasn't quite your cup of tea!
Sadly, employees talking through office dividers is in fact lore accurate.
lmaooo lore accurate is crazy! Well makes sense, I also haven't had an office job yet, so maybe I don't find it relatable enough, but still pretty good game! Also, I ran it on Linux using Proton so maybe it was running badly bc of that? I dunno, but if you ever make optimization improvement lmk and I will give it another go!
This is how it feels to go to work everyday.
I really like the whole theme of the game and how almost every word is like work-related sayings, you can tell you really thought about the whole thing instead of just setting the thing in an office and nothing else. The humor was very funny, the cutscenes, the dialogue, even the gameplay. I thought the game was pretty fun but sadly by the fourth level I felt like I got it and didn't feel like playing anymore. It was very polished for a game made in 7 days ! I still liked the concept of the game so great job ! !
The fourth level is definitely the weakest of the bunch - which sucks because I feel like I knocked it out the park with the last one. I do wonder if maybe I should have cut the fourth level outright, or if that'd change the experience in some way. Either way, I'm happy with how the whole thing turned out.
Thank you for playing!
Note: I couldn't finish the game due to lack of time, so this review is based on the first 5 minutes
This game is probably my favourite office chair type game in the jam! Everything is polished and supports the core game. It is impressive for a solo person to have such a high level of quality! Bravo
Also, as an asocial person, the socializing part is perfect
I'm glad you enjoyed the first five minutes! How many levels in did you get?
Honestly the polish was something I spent a lot of time on - I wanted to make sure this was as clean and as put-together a project as possible for the people who'd download it, so that - in theory, if they liked it - they might be able to come back and play it a few times.
Also, agreed, that spin-to-win-social-interaction meter should totally be a real thing. It'd be so useful in the day-to-day workplace.
Pack it up boys and girls, we have hit maximum synergy. We can circle back to the slide deck and market value metrics later - let's put a pin in it for now.
I'm happy this game landed as well as it did given I made this solo in seven days, and almost everything was made by me personally.
Thanks for playing!
This game has some pretty unique usage of the theme and has interesting mechanics overall. There's so much in this game that I'm going to do a rundown on each category. However, first I'm gonna list some bugs I experienced:... NONE overall I don't think I experienced any bugs either that or they were small so I didn't notice. Two issues that did bother me a little bit is well not being able to play on laptop (but you explained what happened with the optimizing so its fine) and the camera would get stuck on the wall so I was super zoomed in and I couldn't really see where I was going but that was fixed by moving away from the wall.
Enjoyment:
The main topic and probably most important question is did I enjoy the game? Well yes the animations are beautiful as well as the story (not really story I'm just talking about the cool final level), music, and even the title (yes the title). Gameplay could've been spiced up a little more which I guess was the last level but one thing that bummed me out is the fire wasn't chasing me and I don't think you can burn yourself alive. I think I got a pretty good score on every level so my only note for this category is more challenge = more fun (at least for me). 5/5.
Creativity & Theme:
Now while my previous statement regarding this was that this is a unique idea this kind've category in a jam is one that sorta changes over time and that's no different for this jam. Even though in the process of creating my own game I didn't think of spinning chairs doesn't make this a unique idea its more how much did everyone as a whole think of this idea. In the day leading up to playing this masterpiece I did end up playing a lot of spinney chair games which did impact my score to give you a 4/5 stars but again I want to thoroughly say that this could change and I might put it up to a 5.
Visuals:
As I've already explained the visuals are banger. The beginning cutscene was something I didn't expect out of this game since (don't tell the other games) most other entries just have a giant text box explaining lore. ANYWAYSSSSS I really liked the lingo of business with the Resume slide deck, or Read the fine print though having the real meaning directly below does look a little strange so maybe just have a toggle on the right that says text lingo so you can switch back and forth when you please. Moving onto the actual game this was pretty good all the visuals look solid maybe the ring to get a boost when your pushing could look better but that's just a nick pick not a real request. 5/5.
Audio:
Ok now this is where the game truly excels above all my expectations. The way the music is seamlessly integrated into some sort of voice/alarm/talking is awesome and really shows your music skills. All the SFX are pretty perfect I mean its just sfx lmao. Voice acting was awesome I feel like it would've been cool to actually here people read out the lines that appear when you bump into a coworker but besides that its really good. 5/5.
Seriousness:
Now the main event was this game serious? HELL YEAH the dang building was on FIRE like that was sick I entered that level and was questioning why they were all running then the dang fire appeared (btw I'm pretty sure all my coworkers are dead because like the one thing you don't do is escape a fire THROUGH the ELEVATOR) and like wow. 5/5.
Almost full marks from me!
Thank you for the comprehensive breakdown - the camers thing I tried to solve so many different ways, including a stencil to show the player through walls but ended up just using a spring to reposition it as it was the least buggy solution. It's one of the things I would probably revisit and retackle.
I was going to have the fire reset your progress, but I figured it knocking you back was a decent enough compromise that also wouldn't break the floe- focusing on visuals and the illusion of being boxed in. I'm glad the experience was fun though!
I wish I'd thought of the text thing - having localisation settings that just translate between CorpoSpeak and English would have been such a funny layer to the bit.
Considering my musical talent is hitting things with sticks I'm glad it lands well - I spent a good chunk of time making and tweaking sounds for the right feel I wanted, and thankfully it all fit together really well.
I am SO glad someone noticed the elevator joke nobody has commented on that. It's such a brick of a joke.
Thank you so much for your in depth feedback, and thank you for playing! These kinds of comment are awesome - if I end up continuing this project a lot of these tweaks will likely be made.
Really fun game to speedrun! I understand that talking to coworkers is a punishment to for getting to close to them, however I rarely saw another path to allow me to get around them. And the circle that you have to let go on yellow is an interesting idea, but I often miss it since it likes to spawn right on top of the start of the bar. I suggest either making the circle give you a second to analyze it before the bar starts spinning so you can time it, or to change the mechanic entirely, like maybe having to spam space to charge up a push power bar.
Also, the goal icon is rather hard to see with the dark blue color, i think it'd be better if it was a pulsating arrow, so it would really grab your attention.
The art direction is great, and the music was FABULOUS, lovely entry overall!
I don't really like the mechanic of timing the spinning wheel. It feels like if it spawns on top of you, you are put in a lose lose situation. Either you wait for the spinner to do a full loop, wasting a second. Or you just let go immediately and do a weak push. Both options feel bad. Similarly, spinning next to your coworkers is so funny! However, undoing the spin takes wayyy too long. It feels very unsatisfying.
Overall though I quite enjoyed this game. The queue time jokes were especially very funny. This is probably the first game I've played the entire jam that has made me laugh!
I tried to balance the wheel to spawn past tbe 90 degree mark to give you time, but given the random envelope I think it sometimes spawns weird. Were you playing on Windows or Linux?
The strong push mechanic is definitely underutilized - I could definitely have workded it into the game flow more to be sure.
I'm glad the humour landed though! I was worried it might not land too well at times but its good to hear you enjoyed the game.
Thank you for playing!
Great game, but upper management wanted to let you know you we need to put cover pages on all our TPS reports, okay, grrreaaat.
Had a blast playing this. the UI camera work was a really nice touch. You really embraced the setting for all it was worth. Great job
This is such an impressive showing for one dev in a week! You kept it very simple mechanically and that allowed you to overflow it with personality. You've got great game feel, and the environment is surprisingly interactive! Cutscenes are pretty rare to see in jams as well and the two you had felt polished. The best track is clearly the call hold music, but special shoutout to the percussion in level 3 that felt great to play with. The one employee using light mode on their computer was my favorite joke.
Excellent job!
