your game just seems broken? Nothing happens. If the intention is for a blank screen with a 5-10 second wait time before something happens, you should probably reconsider your opening. At LEAST provide a simple instruction.

waiting and lack of instructions is by design, it sets the tone of the game. I'd like to believe the game's name sets expectations well there. It's also about discovery, tho at this early stage there's little lore yet.
I am however still interested in feedback regardless, and may adjust the intro in other ways
I do agree with ikegotti that there is not enough instruction, though I understand it’s part of setting the tone as well.
My advice/request in this would be to add a minor pulse to the wait button at the very start, just something to draw the player’s eyes to it. Nothing flashy either, as that would definitely detract from the setting a bit. A gentle pulse that draws attention, I guess?
EDIT: Also, hide the pause button until after 10 seconds have passed (10 seconds of progression, such as having wait active or doing something else) because I kept clicking pause and wait repeatedly, waiting about half a second each time and it probably took about 30 seconds for me to get the first option. Dunno why I was so tenacious but afterwards I didn’t give the first minute or so another thought.
Highlighting the button matches what I've been considering, and I want something similar to highlight major area changes and maybe new actions appearing.
Also good point about hiding pause, it really doesn't need to be there from the beginning, I haven't considered how confusing it can be.
I'll get back to this in about a week and work on ui more.
