I ditto what a lot of the other devs said about attack patterns and stuff, but I really did the art and shading. Good job!
Not bad at all. Art is great and music is pretty fine too!
spending a couple extra hours on polish would have done wonders (especially with the bullets) and a few tweaks
overall you should be proud this is really nice. I was a fan of the controls and how you didn't just stay in the air but had a bit of gravity.
Man, that fourth moon really got me cooked! No mercy with those attacks, not really giving the player much room for error!
Got a really neat art style! Neat game in general in need of balancing and polish.
great game and good art style ! i died every time almost instantly so i couldn't finish it but still a funny experience !
Very cool visuals, the colour work fantastic here.
The controls of space to shoot and pressing w to flap were a bit confusing.
I also felt the enemy attacks were a bit unpretictable and fast.
Keep up the work, especially with this being the first jam! :)
A great and very challenging game; I got stuck on the fourth stage of the Moon level. It reminds me of Cuphead.
I like the movement but the asteroids are coming at me wayyy too fast. Sometimes they are only on the screen for 1-2 frames before they kill me.
The core conceit of this game is interesting and the gameplay, for the most part, is quite fun. I also enjoy the choice of colors and the sprite work, especially for the various moons. I think my three broad issues with the game were:
1) Some enemy attack patterns feel almost impossible to respond to without a bit of luck. The one with multiple boulders coming up and down towards you can be incredibly luck based to deal with sometimes and the moon charge towards you doesn't have a long enough telegraph period to reasonably respond to
2) The way the UFO interacts with the controls is a bit janky and could use a bit more refinement. I do really like that there is some fun momentum going on, but I feel like the sideway motion and the downward motion at the moment is a bit rickety
3) I think the moon needs some kind of indicator that it's been shot, and maybe have a different type of health bar (since it doesn't seem to decrease at steps of 1?)
But all of these are small flaws in a fun project overall. Congratulations on your first game jam!
I enjoyed it
Undoubtedly a really fun looking game, just wish a lot of things were more clear. I defeated the moon once and spawned back in my room, I assumed I just go back to sleep to fight him again until I can't do it anymore but it's not entirely obvious. Attack patterns could be more readable as well, not entirely sure what animations I'm supposed to look out for when he attacks. Art looked great!
