Wow, nice 5e presentation and an excellent 5-room-style dungeon! I imagine players will rush into the false tomb after passing the illusion, which means it's a successful diversion! A cue could help pull them back into the prior room, but the DM could easily improvise it.

A few favorite things:

  • The Introduction's boxed text! Perfect to just read out to the players!
  • The illusion sequence, really clever
  • Epic boss battle after the false tomb! With great treasure!

Honestly, this is one of the most usable little dungeons. With a little tinkering with the backstory, I really might drop this into a campaign.

Thanks for your comment.

Actually in my (post submission) playtest, since the Perception check's DC is quite low most of the PCs found the secret door after breaking the illusion and didn't go to the false tomb, so maybe there is something to change here.

Anyway I made the mummy ambush them during the final fight, attacking the PCs at the back of the melee, it was quite fun (especially since the other monsters have low durability).

The backstory indeed needs tinkering, I had to cut what I initially wrote to save space but in the end it makes the dungeon more adaptable.

Thanks for taking the time to read it !

The foreshadowing of the illusions later when Snojja is a great touch and dropping down into a well full of floating candles is a really cool visual. I also liked the note to read aloud or summarize the box text, I’ve never personally cared fro reading box text verbatim but I have seen people say they like it so I know some people appreciate it and I think this is a great touch letting a GM know they can do whatever they prefer.

Thanks for the kind comment. The visual part was hard to implement with so little space buti really wanted to keep the lake full of candles.

I really like the read aloud box texte,  mainly for two reasons :

* First of all when I read something my voice tone change. It adds some rythm to the session, between combat, rp, reading text and so on (as with cinematic scenes in a video game)

* As a person with a stutter, read aloud text are relieving

First of all: Another Homebrewery Entry! Now we’re two! :)

A sweet little encounter, reflecting in its puzzles/monsters what was said in the beginning. Should be easy to plug into a campaign (where the princess could flesh out the fear stories beforehand and there could be suspicion against the witch) or a oneshot.

Nice scenario setup, my only thoughts is that some of these secrets might be a bit hard to find on their own. The secret door in Room 3 for instance, perhaps there's a subtle draft or something. Otherwise how does the party know to investigate?

Nice job with the layout and styling, I like your choice of fonts and textures.

Developer

There was a hint in the first draft but it was removed to save space. Now the only way to find it is to suceed a Wisdom (Perception) check (or with a high enough Passive Perception) that is really not that hard for 5 level characters.

And when they see that the false tomb is a dead end they might investigate the other rooms.

Layout and styling (apart from the map) is done with homebrewery.naturalcrit.com . I should have credited this wonderful websiite, but that is my first jam and I didn't  really know how to incorporate all the credit.

I definitely appreciate having the key points up front and easy to find at the beginning to get an idea of what's going on with the module. Good work!

Cool idea with the wishes; it also looks very gameable with a solid use of D&D mechanics & rules.

Really nice adventure idea and the hand-drawn map is truly OSR!
