I had a lot of fun playing this! it really satisfied the power fantasy when all of the Harpoon guys were fully upgraded and you could basically just swim through shark infested waters. Super fun! It did feel like I hit that overpowered level a little too quickly though and I would love to see a bigger map and more upgrades overall. I really liked how the art all fit together and the music was very vibe. A super fun experience!

I'm glad you liked it! To be completely honest I did want the upgrading process to be on the shorter side so people would be able to experience getting overpowered quite quickly without having to invest a long time playing since it's a game jam. I would also have loved to have a bigger map too but time was not on our side  :(

Yeah I was in the same boat. Loved the game though! This is easily my favorite so far. I like how you used video to generate sprite animations. I will definitely be using that in the future.

It’s an incremental game, isn't it!

It’s fun watching your buddy gradually get stronger.

Seeing the electric eel's shocks chain together was exhilarating!

It was a fun gaming experience!

I'm glad you had fun!

Even if you max out every item available in the shop, you'll still start out with a maximum of two BUDDYs. I guess that's part of the game's balance. After all, you'll end up dominating the game pretty quickly anyway.

It was a bit disappointing that when I chose a diver as my starting BUDDY, I got two divers, but when I chose VOLT THE EEL, I started with just one diver and one VOLT THE EEL. I really wanted to try playing while surrounded by four VOLT THE EELs.

With four such powerful BUDDYs by your side, you can dive into shark-infested waters with peace of mind. I had a lot of fun. 🙂

Being able to select your starting buddy was in the radar, but unfortunately I ran out of time🙁. As well as a lot of other things. This was my first jam and the hardest part now is the fact that the jam is done and I still had so many fun ideas to implement.

The jam is just the beginning of a great game.
I believe the game’s fate depends on how it’s handled afterward.

I’ll definitely be coming back to play even after the jam is over.
I’m looking forward to it 😉

Really enjoyed this. The BUDDY theme is load-bearing, not cosmetic — having no weapon of your own and instead recruiting/training harpo buddies to spear foes is a genuinely clever hook, and the roguelite level-up cards (Recruit / Train / Deep Lungs / Long Fin) plus the persistent gold wallet gave me a real 'one more dive' pull. Great pixel art and atmosphere as the trench darkens, and the oxygen economy keeps you honest. Made it to 313m at Lv3 before the swarm + air ran me out. Only note: the swim felt a touch floaty/fast early, so my first dive I overshot bubbles and got mobbed before I understood the buddy would auto-fire — a slightly gentler first-30-seconds ramp might land newcomers better. Solid entry — if you get a moment I'd love your take on my DIVE entry, DEEP (felix-arcade), which leans on a companion-light mechanic too. Nicely done!

I'm glad to hear you liked it, I'll make sure to check your submission too!

I like the clever use of the buddy mechanic here. The graphics and sound effect are pretty decent too. Definitely  a thumbs up from me.
