Adorable cutscenes with the cat, super cute sprite work! Also love this palette
Cute :3
My only complaints are that the footsteps are rather loud compared to everything else and character movements feel snappy. (Maybe add some acceleration and deceleration?)
Really cute game! The art and sound are great and I had a lot of fun trying to make my score better!
Super cute game! Loved the art style and found the platforming to be basic but pretty fun but the camera did make it feel quite unfair when trying to guess where to jump on the platforms. I felt like the goal for this game was to try getting the fastest time you can and I find that it makes the game more replayable too. Awesome job on the UI, it gave the game a lot of personality as well. Great work overall!
good stuff, solid simple fun , gary looks cool and the colors look good and pop. Not sure about the camera had no real dead zone so got a little disoriented especially since Gary is sonic on steroids but good enough. also the controls maybe tighter (personal preference) but that just refining. Nice little touches like the cool cut scenes. Very polished and kinda addicting :)
Cool mini platforming game, very simple yet charming. Controls are ok and fluid if basic, art is efficient and pretty cute, and there are a lot of small yet cool details such as the timer for best time and the cat protrait reacting to your actions. I found the sound design a bit distracting, and i feel the level design could be improved with less "guess" jumps and more lenient coyote frames
I loved the graphics here, the two colors look amazing and the design is simple but fits with the game. Honestly, I didn’t play it too much time, only like 8 minutes because I got frustrated, the level design is good but I felt some parts were unfair because they are not presented in the screen, maybe some mechanic to make the vision wide should help(I think games like hotline miami has it). Anyways, the other aspects of the game are very well polished and I would like to play this again with some QoL improvement. Good job.
This was a really fun little platforming challenge. Especially for a first game, this is great! I adore Gary, and the start and end cutscenes were great (as were the screen transitions)!
This was my best time after several attempts (in-game timer showed 40.something when I hit the door):
There's a lot to like here, and I was a fan of the level design. There are some QoL platforming things that I think could really push the feel of the jump (coyote time, input buffering, changing gravity at different points in the jump, maybe a little bit of accel/decel on the movement, etc.), but after a few runs I got a feel for how to make Gary go where I wanted him to. Even once I had his movement down, I felt like I had to play it careful instead of just letting it rip because there are some tight jumps in there.
I initially thought that the screen was too zoomed-in (in my first few runs I often got caught off-guard by spikes, and there were a couple of 'leap of faith' blind jumps), but I actually ended up kind of liking it; it kind of turned it into a memory game which I ended up liking; after a few runs I had a map of the level in my head and could better anticipate/avoid those things.
Two other little QoL things I would have liked would be resetting the timer on death (I ended up F5-ing the page when I died since I knew the run was lost, which took time that I could have been platforming) and changing it so that the end-screen timer matches what was showing in-game at the end of the run.
All-in-all, though, this was a really solid jam entry (and would be even if it wasn't your first game!). Definitely a fun time. Nice work, and hope to see more games from you in the future :D
TYSM !! I'm happy you liked the game and the mechanics. Also there's a pause menu that you can reset, but haven't made it clear on the itch's page(sorry) And for the timer at the end it was a little detail I forgot to correct that the ending sequence has 10 seconds total, so it doesn't stop the timer when you get there :/. Ty for rating my game and for the nice messages! I already am working on another game which is a little more ambitious than this one lol :P
This is really fun. I lost so many times! Haha. I love the art.
i feel you, Gary w
I’m really (really) bad at challenging games 😂, but I absolutely loved the atmosphere of your game. Great job! I wasn’t able to finish a single level, but that’s totally on me, don’t worry haha.
Also, special mention to the cat-shaped loading screen, super cute! 🐱
I really liked the little animation transition. Love the cat! Really cute.
This is such a fun game! I love the concept of being in a cat's overactive mind and the art is great :) I really liked the colours you chose!
My second best time was around the 0:56, but it showed differently in the menu. Anyway, nice platformer levels, the lack of checkpoints and offscreen surprises really accurately simulate nightmares. And the intro and outro animations were cute.
For a first ever game, it's very well made and fun! Played it 3 times and my best time is 1:06, though in the main menu it shows 1:22 (I think the game is still counting time when the end cut-scene is playing)
