Wonderful little concept! You nailed the overall vibe it seems you were going for, great job!

Developer

Thanks man!

Very fun! This is like playing red light green light but here sleep write.

Developer

Nailed it! That was what I was aiming for! Tring to keep ir simple πŸ‘ŠπŸ˜Ž

I loved the concept as I am huge fan of prison movies! Also the gameplay is really unique and works well with the given theme. Moreover, I loved the art style and found the animation of the guard magnificent (ending).

The only thing that I have to say as a feedback is the combination of the gameplay mechanic and the story. Because I was focused on the guard not seeing me as I spammed the space bar, I couldn't pay attention to the writings. Maybe if you could show the letter to the player when they reach the end? I don't know!

All in all, great entry! Really enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! And yeah the letter is just a random chunk of words that are randomly generated and showing it to the player would've been a good Idea if I implemented it πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ™

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I see! It could have been a great way to tell more about the situation and tie the gameplay with the narrative/theme.

Nevertheless, great job on the game!

A really unique game and an interesting take on the theme.  I love a good horror game, and I'm glad I played through to see both endings.  Short but really nicely done!  The audio in particular was really great, which does so much for a horror-adjacent game like this (I'm embarrassed to admit that the breaking glass sound on the bad ending made me jump lol).

This was a cool concept and a very unique and enjoyable experience; glad I stumbled across it in the long list of games :)  Great work!

Developer

Thanks man! I am glad you had fun with my game!

This entry uses an interesting idea for gameplay and it’s really well connected to the theme of the jam. I enjoyed the environment sound so much, really good. Tons of potential here, good job :)

Developer

Thanks man! It means alot!

Submitted(+1)

The jump scare sound brought my partner out of the room next to me to ask what the hell was going on, lol. Overall a really cool and original idea, nice work!

Developer

Glad I got you with the jumpscare!

Submitted(+1)

That ending was so good, I won on the first time and didn't realize why the other guard shot the one that was patrolling, but when I saw the "caught" ending I understood(was so focused in not be seen by the guard I didn't even read what I was writing in the first place lol). It's a very good and well made game and the polishment is out of this world. Good job man! Also the sounds was amazing... and terrifying  Β°~Β°

Developer

Tysm man! Thiss means alot! Glaad you liked the endings! πŸ—£οΈπŸ˜Ž

Submitted(+1)

Welp you got me with the jump scare, haha. Was a little confused at how I got got, until I realized the main thing was to watch the text up the top for if it was safe to write, moreso than the guard patrolling, so they received a strongly worded bullet  letter in the end.

The art was great and the experience felt like it achieved what it set out to do, great work!

Developer

Me reading this comment πŸ˜πŸ™ Tysm!:

Well polished project with good simple gameplay that doesn't overstay it's welcome. I'm a huge fan of the art style (especially during the cut scenes), and I think the setting is both unique and clever (most people, me included, chose a bedroom). I have three small pieces of feedback:

1. Potentially add a bit more gameplay complexity? Maybe introduce a time limit, maybe have the player type out the words. Potentially have there be two guards, another prisoner? So many options!

2. The fonts on the main menu page seem to be a bit blurry? Might be worth checking if some strange compression issues happened

3. I feel like the game screen at the moment could benefit from swapping the dark and the light color, and I think you should remove the other rooms or do something a bit more visually interesting than just having a few empty cells in there, as it creates a lot of blank space that could be used for nothing else

Great project though I had a fun time typing away

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the honest feedback! Those expansion ideas are quite nice and I just might make them πŸ₯ΆπŸ‘ŒπŸ˜

Really like the art style overall but especially the two endings. Even though it was a quick game it was still really fun.

Developer(+1)

Tysm! Was trying to optimise player retention by making it as short as possible πŸ—£πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Liked the satisfying simplicity of the gameplay and the animation of the guard transforming. Thanks to the comments, I almost muted my speakers beforehand  :)

Fun scene cards playing out and nice art. I wish <SHIFT> was used to go along with the game name lol and some more exposition of why the player can't get caught writing. Good length game too

Developer

Glad to hear that! Idk what I was thinking with the "Shift" bit lowkβœŒοΈπŸ˜πŸ™

I'm always extremely amused when I see what people come up with for jams. the originality is crazy good on this one. I enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much man! That is great to hear!

Tysm lad 😊

Where did they hire that guy?! Great short and sweet game, I really liked the twist when you lost!

Developer(+1)

That's great to hear! It was my brothers idea to add the twist! It appears it was a good choice. πŸ˜πŸ‘Š
